<quoted text>One of your buds says the swastika emblem on Nazi belts denotes Christianity. Talk about confused.
As I wrote before about the five pointed star, the meanings of symbols vary throughout history and from one culture to another and must be viewed in that context to understand their meaning. Whatever it meant in Vedic tradition, to German Nazis, the swastika symbolized German/Aryan nationalism, supremacy, racial purity, and the struggle to attain those goals. Looking outside of Nazi culture to understand the swastika's meaning within it makes no sense.

Oh look - a "Gott mit uns" and a swastika on the same Nazi coat of arms...

I agree, but defenders of religion seem to feel 'under attack' and seem motivated by fear of change, not love of reason. I suppose people who think that there's 'an interventionist, creator-god that should be worshipped' aren't open to too much reason.

What's the difference between Jesus and a picture of Jesus?

You only need one nail to hang up a picture of Jesus.

Better?

IMHO... most atheists become atheists because they decided to actually THINK about what they were being been fed regarding the religion they were raised with. By applying the same reasoning one would use to discount the existence of any other unsupportable claim (all other possible 'gods', leprechauns, unicorns, mermaids, dragons, etc.) they realize religious claims are no different.
Why do believers need to lie/mislead in order to support their beliefs?

God isn't lying. You will burn in Hell forever.

Mark 9:43-44 (NKJV)
43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- 44 where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.'

And why think Jesus will return? He wasn't nailed to a boomerang!
:-)

Religion = superstition
And people are now free to say so.

LOL!! Do you really think posting lines from your holy book has any effect on me other than to make me snicker at your feeble attempt to threaten me with a myth??

LOL!! Now THAT'S funny!

It's always funny when a godbot uses their holy book to threaten non-believers

Probably not.

How do we know that Jesus was a carpenter?

That's easy.

He never came back to finish the job.

He finished the Job.

The only thing that I find somewhat disturbing (yet still amusing) about people (like you) that post scripture as if is has any meaning outside of the cults that thrive on it, is the fact that in this day and age, with all the access to information available at ones fingertips, willful ignorance is still something you people choose to maintain as a virtue.

1000 years late I would agree, but 2000 years late pushes jesus past carpentry into plumbing territory!

Stay tuned. Perhaps you will obtain Christian salvation and escape the eternal Hell fire.

LOL! "Christian Salvation" is a product sold to people starting at their birth in a christian family. It is paid for with a lifetime of servitude to a 'god' that has no evidence in support of its existence outside of the book that makes the claim of its existence. All you need to do to obtain the product mentioned is to have 'faith' that what you have been told all your life is actually real... although you must never apply the same logic and reason to that belief that you would use in gauging the veracity of any other unsupported claim that comes your way.

Perhaps one day you will realize that a continued belief in stories used to scare ancient peoples (and subsequent generations of children) into obedience is every bit as silly as a continued belief in Santa Clause (used in the same way a 'god' is) after about age 8 or 9.

We're not sure why you lie about god to us. It might have something to do with the mental illness you suffer from called faith.

When you stop being a coward and admit that god isn't real, you will truly find salvation.

Atheists are more moral than creationists like you because we don't have to lie about god and get followers by being dishonest to people about physical evidence and science.

Atheists aren't afraid of the imaginations of creationists. In fact nobody is except for creationists!

Why you actually want to spread this disease of thought, to the rest of the planet, nobody knows...

Wrong diagnosis. Theists are spreading the disease of lack of thought. Thought is the medicine that cures theism.
