I don't know if it helps to sign these, but..

Worth remembering that atheists are persecuted merely for non-belief in 'the correct god', or burning a 'good book'.

Unless the religious get a grip on themselves and their misguide faith it could and someday will happen here.

The religious fanatic of this nation and other nations is becoming the scourge of humanity.

The USA? Never.

There is severe prejudice, but like bias against women, blacks and gays, US democracy, secularism and traditions will overcome it and continue to inspire people to support democracy and freedom around the world. Religionists won't destroy that.(I think they'll "see the light" :-)

Perhaps religionists are afraid. They think their faith is important, but it's just a falacy. That's all.

And atheists should remember good traditions too and not throw the baby out with bathwater. Atheists need to demonstrate that we know when to 'turn the other cheek' and when an 'eye for an eye' is appropriate. We need to be good Samaritans and love our neighbour as our friend. Sometimes, I see atheists here being rude, aggresive and even rather threatening towards religionists. That simply appears to justify the religionists argument that there will be some degree of moral decline or poorer standards of behavior without religion.

Some so-called 'Christian teaching' was wise and that is why it is practiced by atheists the same as religionists. One of the things I have learned from atheists here on Topix is that 'love thy neighbour' equates to 'the golden rule'..

We need to stop refering to 'good books' and religious traditions for guidance. Traditions need regular updating. New ones need adopting and outdated ones need to be discarded. Positive and proven secular philosophies are what the USA needs, not superstition.
