1. Is it true that (very approximately) 60% of USAmerican males are circumcised?
2. Are such children mutilated on the instructions of their parents?
3. At an early age?
4. Is it a demand of the US military?

German court rules it illegal..

It's known to happen for free on some NHS Trusts in the UK (where a religious culture is strong). In the UK, it is apparently driven by Jewish and Muslim religious cutures.

Note: I am NOT talking about such mutilation for strictly clinical reasons.
NOR is this thread about circumcisions on adults, 16 or over.

Here in Sweden it's legal but no doctor wants to do it

Re: Austria, Switzerland.

"We in Switzerland aren't directly affected by the Cologne ruling, but it sparked a debate about how to deal with the medical and ethical issues involved," said Marco Stuecheli, a spokesman for Zurich's Children's Hospital.

On Tuesday, the governor of Vorarlberg province in Austria told state-run hospitals to stop circumcisions except for health reasons until the legal situation was clarified. He said the German decision, which arose from the case of a child whose circumcision led to medical complications, was a "precedence-setting judgment."
Unquote.

1. The percentage sounds about right.
2. Physicians ask if the parents want it done as a matter of course after the birth of a male baby. Parents have to give permission in writing after getting information about the procedure and things that could possibly go wrong. No doctor will do anything in the US without 'informed consent' of the patient or guardian.
3. Usually done before infant and child leave the hospital, which is now down to about 48 hours after the delivery
4. I doubt the military has any position on the procedure. The affected organ has no role in aiming or firing a weapon.
