he had a little pain but no he didn't have swelling you wouldn't have even known he was bitten if it hadn't been for to little fang marks. He went to the hospital after he died -_-

Exactly as your god failed this poor snake-bitten victim.

So, now you are claiming it was... SUICIDE?

Isn't that a mortal sin, meaning this poor sap (according to your bible) is now in your hell?

Wow! That's not good, is it?

Riiiight... so you agree, it was suicide...

.... that's not good.

Not good at all.
you're stupid.. It wasn't suicide God says plainly you can take up serpents.. I honestly don't think his death or the cause is any of topic business, it just so happens y'all have no life other then to talk smack about things you didn't even whiteness.. So then, you're alive, which means you know nothing of what's after life. Glad we could get that cleared up.

Apart from religious lunatics, a significant number of snake bites in the US are to young males, particularly bites to the upper extremities, indicative of an attempt to handle the snake. As one medical journal article dryly noted, alcohol intoxication is a common co-morbid condition.
Coral snake bites are very rare, partly because the snakes are rare, and partly because the snakes themselves are fairly docile and don't usually bite unless provoked. Even then, about 50% of coral snake bites are dry bites. Because they are neurotoxic, though, there isn't the same immediate pain and swelling, and symptoms often don't manifest until 12 or more hours after a bite. The patient can go from seeming fine to respiratory paralysis very quickly once the symptoms appear, however.
Here in New England, I don't see many snakes at all, and you have to work at finding a venomous one. When I was in SE Asia, though, I did see a Russell's Viper, which is one of the species responsible for a very large number of snakebite deaths.
Saw a Coral snake in the wild once here in Texas. Didn't mess with it. Isn't there something about the way they bite? The way their fangs hinge or don't hinge or something or they don't have "fangs"??

Yep.
The snake will conserve his venom if at all possible-- it takes a lot of resources to create more, so it's natural to be conservative.
If a snake is being handled, he'll bite first-- if he's dropped, all is good-- he get's away, and doesn't have to spend a limited resource.
If he's not dropped after the first bite? The next one will have a little venom.
The thing is? Venom is not even a little bit instantaneous-- but bite-damage is.
Most critters who are not natural predators of snakes will leave it alone if bitten.
Makes perfect sense Bob ... as usual. That venom's more for killing / incapacitating prey (I guess) so why waste it ... Momma Nature don't waste much ... all hail her mighty name!!!

It's so cool how y'all can find reinforcement for your "faith" in something that is so clearly a failure. Your god called this pastor "home" by poisoning him via a snakebite? Graciously administered without pain or unsightly swelling?? Let me guess ... this particular snake, having so recently been an instrument of God, enjoys some new status? Sort of the serpent equivalent of Jesus? All hail his might name!

Here's a prediction.

The more of y'all take up serpents ... the more of y'all gonna get called home!!

I've always presumed you would at least take the common-sense precaution of having the beasts "milked" before a big service. I think you can sell the stuff and maybe use the profits to benefit the poor.

If the Bible said you could jump off high cliffs, would you do it?

God puts people in Hell?

That makes your god and Hitler pretty similar. Except that Hitler's ovens only lasted for a few years while your god's ovens will last forever.

They have smaller fangs than vipers, and the fangs are 'fixed', not folding like a viper's. When you do provoke a coral snake to bite, they tend to hang on and chew, as a way of injecting more venom. Pit vipers usually strike, then retreat and wait for their prey to die, to prevent the prey from injuring them in a struggle. Cobras, which are in the same family as coral snakes, also sometimes do this, or inflict multiple bites. Mambas, which are also elapids, do not hang on, but do tend to strike repeatedly, which is overkill, given the toxicity of their venom, and the massive venom yield per bite. Boomslangs, which are colubrids also tend to chew after a strike. Colubrids have rear fangs, which are much less efficient in injecting venom.

All the snakes were milked regularly,(and were milked again right before show time)most of the venom was claimed, to have been sent to places like A&M. Handlers had to be of certain body size, very small men, women, and all children were discouraged from joining in. In Texas, there was method to the madness, but they seem to have thrown caution to the winds in West Virginia.
In West Virginia, they would have several rattlesnakes and copperheads in each hand.
I had an old book from the library that came out when snake handlers were more common throughout Appalachia. They had a cobra down in North Carolina. No lie. This was in the 60's, IIRC.

Given the general level of venomous hate we see here from christians, the snakes probably avoid biting because they are afraid they will die.

The fangs are probably smaller than a rattlesnake, but the venom is neurotoxic like a cobra or a mamba, whereas pit vipers such as rattlesnakes, copperheads, and cottonmouths have hemotoxic venom.

Coral snakes may be the only N.American snake with neurotoxic venom. I forget.

Rear-fanged snakes tend to chew, such as corals and cobras. Instinct must tell them to make sure they got a good hit on their prey (or your hand).

There is also the fact that the fangs of coral snakes are grooved rather than hollow like a hypodermic needle the way pit vipers' are.

From the article: "Wolford was then transported to a family member's home in Bluefield about 80 miles away to recover. But as the situation worsened, he was taken to a hospital where he later died."

It seems there is a conflict of facts.

They are the only neurotoxic venom carriers dangerous to man. Garter snakes have extremely weak neurotoxic venom delivered in very small quantities through grooved rear fangs. Works against their prey, but has no observable effects on humans. Mojave rattlesnakes and some timber rattlers have venom with neurotoxic properties, in addition to hemotoxic properties. The tropical rattlesnake, found in Mexico and surrounding central American countries also has neurotoxic properties in its venom mix.

It's a snake. It doesn't care about your faith. It will bite you and kill you if its poisonous.
