'Serpent-Handling' West Virginia Pastor Dies From Snake Bite

May 30, 2012 | Posted by: Hedonist | Full story: abcnews.go.com

A "serpent-handling" West Virginia pastor died after his rattlesnake bit him during a church ritual, just as the man had apparently watched a snake kill his father years before.

He just walked on water and got himself nailed to a cross and speared.

Actually?

He was doing EXACTLY the same things YOU DO.

Exactly the same thing: he believed the bible's lies were NOT lies.

And he died for his idiotic belief.

Can you say the same? No?

He was willing to put his faith where his life was-- and he died for his stupidity.

You?

You are a moral and faithless coward compared to that guy.

You have no more faith than I do, in fact...

... making you a practical atheist-- you only pay lip-service to your "faith".

I know why they are like that. They are ignorant and the ignorance was passed down from generation to generation. They inherited this ignorance. It will be interesting if that church this happened to continues this ridiculous ritual.

I know he was doing what he believed was true but he was wrong in what he believes. Just like you are wrong in what you believe.

As far as my faith, my daughter was bitten by a deadly snake and only had some minor ill effects. It was an accident. She was playing in the yard and a snake bit her on the ankle. She was like one year old.

So as usual you are making claims and cashing checks your butt canít cover.

Itís not what you think Bob when it comes to my faith. Itís what God thinks. You opinion is the same as the devils. Insignificant and meaningless.

Interesting.

You are quick to criticize other members of your cult that you don't like...

... but you fail to see the very same criticisms you make on them?

Apply equally well to...

... you.

What do I "believe"?

You have access to a telepathy or mind-reading device now?

In that you pretend to KNOW what I "believe", now?

Wow.

Your arrogance has no limits!

Riiiight....

... as if YOU have an actual daughter!

As if some poor woman would consent to bear YOU child-- perhaps you used deadly force on her?

But nevermind that obvious lie.

Did you know that all venomous snakes control their venom?

And that the majority of bites are delivered WITHOUT venom?

Any scientist who studies venomous snakes will tell you this fact.

But you are so ignorant, you were unaware of this FACT.

You just...

... BELIEVE.

Don't you?

Lying is not only your best move...

... it's also your ONLY move.

You should have watched the video, because now all I can do is ridicule on this matter.

You are a chicken, frightened of it's own shadow. You cannot take even the tiniest scrutiny to your faith because you know faith is stupid.

My youngest was bitten by a Copperhead, he picked it up, he was close to two years old then. It got him just below the wrist junction. One puncture straight in, the second a scrape puncture at the outer curve of the lower palm. No antivenom for him either, just a doctor who carefully watched to judge the amount of anti-venom he might need. There are potentially serious risks in using the antivenom. After about three or four hours, it was judged to be most likely a dry bite. None, or almost no venom injected. Not a single prayer either.

Anti-venom is seldom kept in most hospitals. Knowing the snakes breed is about as important as getting to the hospital. There is an amazing anti-venom delivery set-up in East Texas.

We live, work, hunt, fish, play in the great outdoors, and all of us have been snake bitten, but only three of my sons have been bitten by posionous snakes, and all three were Copperheads.

We have even participated in the rattle snake round-ups, and I have once before (in these threads) told of rattle snake tamales that I made from scratch, in Mangum, Oklahoma ~ 1974.

Sad that he died but I guess there's no accounting for dumb people who take every syllable in their holy books as the literal word of their god.

We did not know what kind of snake it was until later, when we found it right where he carried it to, the back yard pool. It couldn't get out.

Yep.

The snake will conserve his venom if at all possible-- it takes a lot of resources to create more, so it's natural to be conservative.

If a snake is being handled, he'll bite first-- if he's dropped, all is good-- he get's away, and doesn't have to spend a limited resource.

If he's not dropped after the first bite? The next one will have a little venom.

The thing is? Venom is not even a little bit instantaneous-- but bite-damage is.

Most critters who are not natural predators of snakes will leave it alone if bitten.

Yep-- anti-venom is toxic too, if there is no venom for it to react against, the side-effects can be bad.

And you really need to know the species, as venom mixtures are different for each-- some part blood coagulant, some part anti-nerve chemistry, some part plain old toxicity.

The ratios vary from species to species.

:)

That particular poster tried to harass me a while back, claiming his god "told" him that I was going to die by year's end from smoke-induced cancer.

He just wouldn't let it go, in spite of the fact I have asthma-- I'm allergic to smoke, and have never smoked a single cigarette/cigar in my life.

Unlike Clinton? I never tried maryjane either-- smoke allergy again.

But he would not let his delusion go, and went as far as taking bets how quickly I'd die from his imaginary "cancer".

He is a horrid little sh7t, and deserves no mercy, consideration or empathy.

That is a horrible thing to say, but Christians are not well known for their empathy despite their claims to the contrary. He made a prediction the same way that they always predict the end of the world.
