Dear Father,

Today You had it in Your plan that many at the Boston Marathon should experience a terrorist attack. There have been injuries; some have gone home, and still more may cross over to You. We accept in faith that Your plan will be revealed to us in time, but until then we pray for the rapid healing of those who will live, the glory of heaven for those who have gone home, and the courage as a nation to act with the power of Christ against those who have wrought these evil deeds.

If there is a lesson to be learned, we want the wisdom. If there is love to be shown, we want to be its instrument. If good can come in the face of disaster, we will wait for it, but if war has come again, may we exact Your perfect wrath upon those who have harmed the innocent.

Place upon the heads of those who suffer now and those who mourn Your perfect peace, dear Lord. Let nothing be in vain.

In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen

This was not any plan of your evil pretend god! It was a cowardly terrorist act committed by extremists, probably for some of your god's evil followers.

I spit on you!

I spit on your god!

My wish for you is a life of abject failure, rejection, and poverty.

You are as low as the monsters who perpetrated this atrocity. And your pretend god is lower still.

I had the same thought. Faith in a religion probably had something to do with this.

So you don't believe in free will, just a plan.
Were the 3,500 US gun deaths since Connecticut also planned?

Do something useful like donate blood, you fuckwit.

Iraq, Afghanistan, NI - it's the same story in many societies. Once people have learned the skills to detonate explosions, the trick is to get them to stop. They are nobodies without their 'cause' and a 'evil enemy'. They're so twisted that they think such murder has a purpose instead of just being serious crime.

Condolences to Boston and good luck to London. Lets hope it's a one-off by some nutcase and not any sort of 'trend'.

The story of the father that crossed the finishing line, hugged his 8 year old and went off to report his time was very poignant. Seconds later his son was dead, his daughter had lost a leg and his wife was also injured.

I agree. I find their behaviour very disturbing. I find it hard to tell if these are genuine Christians or Poes.

"God" and "perfect peace" are antonyms. Vast oceans of blood have been spilled by true believers in the name of many various deities over the past several millenia. Some of the most atrocious acts in human history are rooted in delusions of 'god'. A world without such delusions would be a good bit closer to a peaceful world than the current benighted god-drunk world we inhabit.

I was furious when I wrote it (my first effort was correctly deleted by Topix software for using too many expletives). I've never posted anything so angry on Topix before this. For some reason, this act of terrorism upset me even more than 9/11 did. I've calmed down now, for which I am grateful. A little sleep can do wonders.

As such, my reaction to the earthquake near Irani/Pakistani border is one of more characteristic compassion, and I hope that rescue and relief efforts are both timely and adequate. Poverty is already rampant in that area, and many village homes are made of dried mud. Fortunately, many others live in tents, and the quake struck at mid-afternoon when most people would have been out and about rather than sleeping.

If we are to be outraged by terrorism, we should be similarly offended by needless suffering.

Why wasn't this posted on the christian forum?

Wouldn't that be the more appropriate place?

Have a look at the http://veridican.org/ link in Br. Edward's post. Click on the forum tab. Its subtitle is "Ending Atheism--One Mind at a Time." He seems to have made a mission of converting us, so it's likely that we'll see more of this. He will find this an extremely hostile environment. I'll see to that.

Yes, I remember checking that once before. Also, simple Google search shows he's been kicked out of so many forums, religious and secular.

So, his cult would not be accepted very well over on a christian forum where he would probably get lots of hostility.

And, so far he's batting ZERO here, as far as converting any atheists to his cult. However, his cult is probably good at being an example FOR the cause of non-belief.
