Who Threatens Marriage More: Gays Who Value the Sacrament or Atheists Who Don't?

There are 39 comments on the Religion Dispatched story from Mar 7, 2014, titled Who Threatens Marriage More: Gays Who Value the Sacrament or Atheists Who Don't?. In it, Religion Dispatched reports that:

When I read the headline "Gay vicar from Kilburn to defy church leaders by marrying atheist partner," I was fairly certain that it was the atheism of the partner in question that was cause for concern among the church leaders.

Some gays think they are religious because they worship pagan gods like Baal and other demonic influences. Technically, they are correct, just as atheists in their staunch beliefs are religious. Gays and similar influences have destroyed a stable and compassionate America. "Marriage" is desired by very few gays and those wanting it use it for attention and abusing other's rights. Since the terroristic threatening from gays and their support of kidnapping bank robbers just because one was gay... America has turned into a pile of crap with no moral, nor ethical base.

The greatest threat to marriage is a bad relationship. If you have to look for excuses like same-sex marriage harming your own, or other feeble pseudo-religious tripe, your marriage is rotting from within.

Marriage isn't a "sacrament" except to the religious. Fanatics. To the rest of us , it is a civil legal contract. You can be married without coming within 100 yards of any. Good post.

The religious right likes to beat everybody over
the head with their religious dogma. Take
religion out of the marriage contract and it works
for everybody. Two human beings sharing a life

How about people who have had three or four marriages?
How much do they cheapen the institution?
If marriages are made in heaven, why the divorces?
Should divorce be outlawed to protect the sacredness of marriage?
If the institution of marriage is intended for the procreation
and rearing of children, should childless couple be forced
to separate?
Exactly! The anti-gays come up with the most moronic excuses and lies trying to deny gay marriage. The crazy idea of "Marriage is for Procreation" is idiotic! I personally know many couples who don't have children nor do they want any by choice. I also know many couples who have gotten married way past childbearing years. Then Trout's nonsense logic also denies marriage for women past menopause or medically can't have children. Oh, wait......men with erectile dysfunction can't get married either.

Pretty damn obvious gays have not affected humanity nor has it caused degradation, according to Trout, for thousands of years because the planet is still over populated.

Take religion out of a lot of things and suddenly the hatred you see in the media and elsewhere drops drastically.

Notice I didn't say completely.

Why would anyone care if an atheist or a gay person gets married, or divorced.

This is a talking point perpetuated by the far right to coral religious voters to vote republican, which in most cases is against their best interest.

Just because your religious doesn't make you a republican. Learn what both parties can do for you and

Being a fake Christian usually makes you a bigot. Being a bigot usually makes you a Republican.
But if you are the kind of true Christian envisioned by Jesus, you are more likely a liberal, just as He was.

Gays being responsible for tens of thousands of suffering deaths from the disease they brought and spread is pretty powerful, especially as some of those infections were intentional and your fellows bragged about it. Seems you freaks would lament the majority of those excruciating deaths to be your own type of perverts.

And I'm sure a freak like you feels equally bad for the millions upon millions of heterosexuals who have died from AIDS...especially those that were infected intentionally by their heterosexual partners.

Yeah, loser, you lose.
