What atheists can't refute -

Full story: Baltimore Sun

Religion has faced formidable foes in its history. But atheism hasn't generally been one of them - until today.

"FAITH" Is admitting there is no evidence of the existance and no proof of that existance. Its like a little kid. Ask a little Kid WHY? and his answer: "Just Because"..LMAO

Faith is the beginning and the end of the Circular logic of Christians.. no matter what is said and evidence given against them the conversation goes around in the circle back to the word "Faith" . They wont even try to prove this god they claim exists. WHY?? Just Because LMAO

Huh. Well, the "show me the evolution of the eye" argument from creationists seems to have taken a bit of a blow today...

University of Queensland research has found the 'missing link' in the evolution of the eye.

Actually, no, you didn't.
Your version of me: "Have faith in nothing or you are stupid."
Mine: Believe in doing good works.
Yours: Think like me or you're stupid. Don't ask me to think about what you think.
Mine: Let's talk.
Yours: Atheists think they're gods and make their own rules.
Mine: You're very welcome to follow your own rules, but don't try to impose on everyone else the ones that would be bad for society in general.
So where did you "tell me so," exactly?

Ah, but what if you believe in the wrong god? What if it was Zeus all along? You are confusing a myth, which has moral implications, for a literally true story. You can learn from all myths, but it is ridiculous to believe in the truth of things like virgin births and resurrections.

Bad form to be replying to myself, but it occurred to me after my posting that this is a perfect illustration of something that our theist friends might find illuminating as to the mind of the atheist.

The biggest difference between atheism and theism is, of course, the belief in God(s). But there's another difference that's actually, IMO, almost as big.

Atheists, by virtue of having no other choice, are forced to continually reevaluate the world as we see it. New evidence comes to light all the time, like the link I provided above.

Theists--at least those who believe in a divinely created Earth, and in the literal truth of a document written millenia ago--are forced to reinterpret all new things in light of the same source material.

An atheist will look at the link above and say "Well, they may or may not be right, but it's certainly something to think about. I'm curious to see how this washes out."

A source-literal theist, on the other hand, has no choice but to say "Well, either that's a lie, it's wrong, or God is testing my faith by giving yet more evidence that on its face seems telling but really doesn't mean anything."

Over time--over hundreds and thousands of years--more and more information is going to come to light, whether source-literal theists like it or not. More fossils will be found. Genetic testing will provide more and more information. New postulates will be formulated, discarded, reformulated, tested, and ultimately accepted as scientific theory.

Time will move on, and knowledge, and all the while the source-literal theist will be stuck, literally, in the year 0.

I know that religion is supposed to bring comfort and hope, but it's at times like these that I just can't see how refusing all the evidence of human experience--willfully setting one's calendar back 2000+ years--can possibly do that.

:: shrug ::

But that's just me.

Spiritual Body or Physical Spirit?

Where matter exits chemistry exists. Dark-matter is no exception. There are many recent papers on neutrinos as monopoles and on how to modify Maxwell's equations to accomodate monopoles. The masses of these particles entering into dark atoms and their dark dark chemistries in humans will be in the same ratios as the masses of the fermions in ordinary atoms and their chemistries. Electric polarities will not be any different than magnetic polarities with respect to chemical bond formations. The rules of chemistry will be the same in both. The distribution of these dark-particles need not be the same in all species which seems to support the vast differences (by an order of magnitude) in biophoton emission rates across the taxa.
A durable (non-entropic) and invisible doppelganger identical to the visible body from the moment of conception is a rational conclusion. That is materialism extraordinaire supplementing ordinary materialsism which by itself is dangerously inadequate to explain human existence. There will be no experimental dark-matter chemistry laboratory, only ab initio computational chemistries.

People who believe in god are mentally ill in a very specific way. It is a curious illness because the person suffering from it looses all self-awareness, logic, reason and is prepared to lie to cover up their fraudulent and inconsistent beliefs and hallucinations which is when they believe they are talking / communicating with god.

You cannot convince a religious person to go to the doctor, because another symptom is a very large ego.

If a person has been believing for many years, it is often hard for a theist to accept that they have been following a lie and that they could have spend their limited time on the planet more wisely, inter service or others instead of their hallucinations.
