All atrocities throughout history were perpetrated by absolutist ideologies, by assholes who said, "We're right, you're wrong, therefore we can kill you."

That's true of every political ideology (communism, fascism, etc.) and it's true of every religious ideology (christian, jew, muslim, hindu, buddhist, etc.).

Religion IS ideology, regardless of any lies told to the contrary.

I did open it.There's 5 minutes of my life I won't get back. As is typical of Examiner.com , I feel stupider just for having read the article. Just a re-hash of things we've seen here thousands of times already.

I was amused that the authors considered the new rise of anti-theism to be "a good thing for christianity".

Really? A rise of logical rebuttal to your ancient cult of superstitious nonsense, is good for you?

<laughing>

I do so love the use of the word "apologetics"... and that they mean "defense of christianity".

Here's a question: why would anything backed by ... a GOD?

Require defending?

His evidence is the lack of appearance or evidence of your God in any form throughout world history.

Yes, someone who saved us is barbaric, do you need the definition of barbaric?

He has all the proof he needs and he has stated them. Your God is not present ina nay form, therefore we must assume that he does not exist. The same assumption that we have in regards to Unicorns and Gargoyles. When your god appears,we will change our opinion.

My God ........

You know Nothing of my beliefs

I am a poster on the atheist forum.
Many of the atheist posts are pretentious and moronic.
So far in a few years atheists have proved nothing except their lack of tolerance.

Robben Island, in your native S.A. That's a fairly good working definition.

Brain damage. There is no getting around this: you have religious brain damage.

So severe, you cannot learn anything.

Pathetic.

Indeed-- all we ask for is a little proof of god's existing.

Obviously, that is just too much for these brain-damaged folk.

This post of yours is not proof of a god.

But it IS proof you are severely retarded.

Likely due to religious brain-damage.

Just the start made me stop reading "These so-called “New Atheists” differ from classical atheism in that they are aggressively evangelical and they believe that society can have morality without religion." What did all the atheists before us say "we are evil, we are good for nothing, we are the bringer of doom..." BULLS***!

The biggest difference between then and now?

Not all that long ago, being an atheist openly, would get you strung up by your neck, or attached to a stake over some kindling.

It's only been fairly recently that being openly atheist wasn't an instant death sentence.

However, in some areas of the world, where the insanity of religion is still government?

It still is a death sentence to be atheist.
