Christian Refuses to Drive Bus Advertising Atheism

Jan 19, 2009 | Posted by: peterpandreams | Full story: atheism.about.com

Apparently, the message that there is probably no God is just so horrible, so hateful, and so intolerant that it's just more than some Christians can stand - or at least it's more than Christian Ron Heather can stand...

Atheists partake in things labeled as christian all the time. We use paper money that has "In God We Trust" scribbled across it. We say the pledge of allegiance when necessary (required for immigrants at their citizenship ceremony!) We don't sneer when someone says "God bless you" after a sneeze. And guess what? We happily (or not so happily) live in a country in which every single leader believes in God or claims to. So it isn't a matter of "Would an atheist drive a christian bus?" because we've been driving the christian bus for thousands of years.

You'd think that the man's choice not to drive the buss would have been more of a honor and celebration, than suffering.. He stood up for what he believed in...and I'm sure within his fundi circle he was a hero for a day. lol
I was a christian before as well... I still remember the word and my experience.
I know the christian logic all too well. Like you, I can see where they're coming from, but, at the same time it doesn't make them right or fair and I'm so happy I know that and my is mind open enough to think outside of the christian box.
I agree with you about the difference between moderate christians and the fundis..
But,the moderate christians to me come off like they have never read the whole bible or they seem to be seletive in the doctrines or bible verses they believe in. All in all, I think there are more Fundis, than watered down moderate christians..
Hope your weekend is going good. take care.
The moderate christians definitely are not well-versed on the bible. If you read the bible fully either you become a non-believer, or you become a fanatical believer who can't be reasoned with. Then again, there are many fundies that don't know the bible even half as well as most atheists/agnostics.

all the time

because doing your job is about doing your job

not about judging other people

I am work at a store making photocopies, anyone who can pay gets their copies made

it's not up to me to decide if they are worthy or deserving

service providers are not entitled to pick and choose who gets served

If its part of his job description he should quit. The fact is , if you are really secure about your religious beliefs it would not bother you if someone promotes views different than yours. What if the bus advertised Judaism or Hindu or Islam etc. Its the same point. The guy is an idiot.

Yes, he is. But he can't see it that way because he is blinded by his absolute faith in something.
