PROFILES IN COURAGE: Richard Dawkins: Islam? What's that? "It's funny how these confident, cocksure prophets of atheism-who barely have time to take a breath between slamming the tenets of Christianity and Judaism-often get curiously tongue-tied and shy when the subject of Islam comes up." Don't want your religion attacked? Behead a few attackers.

From a non-believer's viewpoint, Prof Dawkins isn't 'attacking' Islam so much as defending secularism, education and science.

Religion should be as subject to criticism as anything else in life. Some people seem to see any criticism of religion as a needless "attack" by intolerant or aggressive atheists. That is just not paying attention.

Quote:
The author of The God Delusion, emeritus fellow of New College and evolutionary biologist, said young people were being taught that the world was only 6,000 years old.

The effect of this was "utterly deplorable" and could affect the way young people thought right up until their university years, he said.

"Occasionally, my colleagues lecturing in universities lament having undergraduate students walk out of their classes when they talk about evolution - this is almost entirely Muslims," he said.
Unquote.

No Bishop of the English "Established" (i.e. privileged) Church spoke out much against these attacks on children's segregation and indoctrination in the UK. Nor did UK politicians (like Blair, Cameron, Gove or Pickles). Good job somebody did.

The last para in post 2, above should read:
"No Bishop of the English ... Church spoke out much against such indoctrination of children in the UK. And children are sometimes effectively segregated according to their parents' religious delusions".

Not to mention the writer's dream of beheading some non believers. Uh and people still want to use religious morality as a guideline?

Seriously?
