<quoted text> The flip side of that is that there is no reason not to treat nano with kindness and courtesy. It seems that there are some people who just get dumped on even when their posts are reasonable. Kitten Koder gets that, too. I wish more people would respond to the actual words in each post instead of using each one as an excuse to continue older arguments with their attendant abuse and insults.
Perhaps. I'm not that graceful, I guess. I find it difficult to forgive and forget--especially when the poster in question only shows up now and again, to dump on me, without me having said one thing about that poster for months.

That is what nano does, from my perspective--- every so often, she shows up, puts peanuts on all my posts, then posts some ugly comment about one of them at the bottom.

And then leaves.

There really is no excuse for being such-- but it's worse: she is a liar, through and through.

I find I have no empathy or tolerance for liars. Period.

In my book, because of that, she deserves no consideration.

It is wrong to mock people! That is not an excuse to proof the fallacies in others arguements!

It is rude!

Not nearly as rude as telling someone they are bound for infinite torture.

Which is not 1/2 as bad, as telling a gay person that they were BORN EVIL, and trying to force them to deny who they really are.

Which is not 1/2 as bad, as telling women that they are just property--to be used and abused as the >>man<< sees fit.

You want to talk about rude?

Sure-- let's talk about rude, then:

It's rude to lie to children, telling them the garbage that is Creationism is a real thing (it isn't)

It's rude to lie to people, telling them they are lower than dirt (born to sin) and then lying some more, claiming to have the magical *poof* "fix" for this ... "sin".

It's really, really rude to force religious bigotry onto everyone else, in the form of anti-abortion laws, anti-sex-ed laws, anti-science laws, anti-women's-rights laws, anti-contraceptive laws.

And what is likely the most rude thing of all?

Is getting a free ride on the backs of taxpayers by having tax exempt formalized bigotry in the form of "churches".

Yes-- lets' talk about what is rude.

Yes, evil people will be bound to infinite torture. As far as I know, I might go to hell myself, I don't know, I don't really worry about it too much.

Homosexuality is a choice, I don't believe in people being born evil. But homosexuals are damaging themselves emotionally, mentally, and physicaly, and by clinging to homosexuality they are already destroying themselves.

As for treating women as property and so on, it depends on the sect or whatever. I don't believe in the total subbordination of women.

I don't believe in the "born into sin nonsense", I follow whatever the Bible says, I don't believe we are innately wicked. Evilness is in my opinion to do with children being raised up damaged and therefore utterly destroyed and made into sociopaths.

I believe abortion is murdering an innocent baby. And I believe contraceptives destroy the population, and prohibit the best quality babies being born in a natural state. I despise the "designer baby" shit.

So you're a bigot that uses a religious myth as an excuse to justify your hatred. Pretty simple and common reason people won't give up that delusion.

I don't just believe gays are evil because of the Bible, but because of other proof as well. The Bible does still teach morals, little one.

What "proof"? Your massively giant ego isn't "proof". Neither is it because you think it's ... "icky".

Evil ones, certainly. What little good that leaks from the bible is because 100% of it's ideas are borrowed from earlier religions.

I wonder if you realize how much those condescending little jibes detract from your credibility. Putting people down, no matter how subtly, assumes a superiority and can only be called arrogance--not a good quality. We are all equals here except as the quality of our posts set up apart. Arrogance sets yours apart in the wrong direction.

:)

You do not often engage in such activity, but when you do?

It's 10-guage, both barrels and double-ought buckshot right to the face ...

:D

Only a great deal more subtle than a shotgun would be, naturally--as befits your superior writing style.

I think Sam Clemens would appreciate what you just penned.

I actually did launch a personal attack recently at Br. Edward

http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/atheism/T...

I was still angry about the Boston bombing, and his arrogant little homily raised the ante to full-fledged fury. Oddly enough, I still don't regret my words, intemperate though they were. They still seem right for the moment when I wrote them.

Sometimes, that shotgun blast is the only thing that works.

As I said, you use the book of myths as an excuse to justify your hatred for your fellow humans. The bible teaches, if anything, how to be the worst human possible.

I think you give the bible too much credit-- I think it's more likely that the bible >>enables<< the worst in people to come out in the open, and allows them to "justify" this ugly in their own minds.

But I agree with your main idea.

Actually it is usually misunderstood as the Bible being from other religions. It is actually the other way round. Many religions seem to be based off the Bible. I'm not saying this to boast, as I have no reason to flout glory for the Bible, as I am not patriotic about christianity.

"This was not any plan of your evil pretend god! It was a cowardly terrorist act committed by extremists, probably for some of your god's evil followers.

I spit on you!

I spit on your god!

My wish for you is a life of abject failure, rejection, and poverty.

You are as low as the monsters who perpetrated this atrocity. And your pretend god is lower still."

Aggressive comments like that often in a way stem from worry, based on a lack of understanding on the right way to do something, and so you panic and try to attack someone thinking it is of good cause. I have done that several times myself.

Um, christianity, and the bible, is one of the youngest groups of religions. Seriously, do you actually believe that the world didn't exist until the bible was written?

No--this is not misunderstanding... this is studying... HISTORY.

The ugly bible did not exist in any form, before about 500BCE or so.

When it was fabricated out of other religious legends, to fit the emerging Jewish Priesthood--they deliberately wrote it to seem... old. This happened either during or shortly after the Babylonians had control of the region.

An morons like YOU lap it up like pig-slop....
Largelanguage wrote:

Lie. Nothing in your ugly bible is original material. Nothing.
Largelanguage wrote:

True-- just as the ugly bible is based off of earlier, more reasonable religions. The bible really did dumb down most of it... and made it uglier too...
Largelanguage wrote:

Bullsh7t. You worship your bible as if it were a god.

That much is quite evident from your posts.

The bible-worshiper thinks the world is less than 6000 years old-- bank on that.

He's quite ignorant.
