No. My mother was so catholic I used to suspect that the Pope called her for advice. Dad was less demonstrative about faith, but still goes to church regularly, in in his younger days belonged to the holy name society and the knights of columbus.

None of it took with me.

That's just gibberish you made up, and not particularly convincing gibberish at that. Given the reception you've gotten on this forum, where you've failed to gain even one convert, you should amend the name to something more accurate, since the existence of non-believers like me disproves the "universal" part.

I greatly admire the Dalai Lama. My own ethics center on kindness.

Finally, the Dalai Lama has started to reel in his earlier anti gay comments. He's much more reasonable than other religious leaders.

My parents were catholic though they sent me to a protestant school. I left the catholic church for the protestant, then I left church all together.

My parents were cultists, also hypocrites, liars, racists and child abusers - not just their children, but their grandchildren. If I had had kids and they were still alive, I would never let them see or talk to them under any circumstance.

As soon as I was able to think, I was an atheist, and as soon as I was old enough, I was out of there. My siblings on the other hand, were still sucked in and their children suffered for it.

Mother is a believer in jesus and father is agnostic. I am atheist so I guess you could say no and yes kinda. I relate to my mother more so than father though. So there's that.

Oni's religion sounds a lot like Taoism mixed with some other shit.

With the exception that Ferox was doing it as some sort of prank, while Jedi Onanism seems to be genuinely under the delusion that he is the leader of the Next Big Religious Deal.

Whilst it is of no real importance, Grandma's Dirtbox was so stroppy that I always assumed the "apology" was just a way out of a self imposed blind alley.

He will have to take on Susan Blange then, because she called it first. She is the new self-acclaimed god/savior/messiah. JO will be relugated to his rightful spot, and that's the back seat on this one.

Regular violence, occasional blood (e.g. if I was attacked by bullies at it was reported, they would hit *me* for "embarrassing them"). Sexual touching of my sister at least once, and possibly her kids (a shotgun wedding after she got pregnant). Racism, road rage, a few others. The old woman "worked" at a christian charity (read: didn't do much, took home an "honorarium" and took food intended for the food bank). The old man was heavily into porn.

I haven't talked to them since I left Canada in 2001, not even an obituary check to see if they are dead (both would be 80+ now, one a chain smoker). Don't know, don't care. My brother says he's an atheist, but caves under to them like a sandcastle under your foot. If I called him and gave him my phone number and said "Don't give it to them", they would be calling me five minutes later.

Hi, raised Catholic, left the church when I came of age and never set foot in one again except for funerals and a few weddings.it's now 36 years later and i'm back in church, found something that few are ever given in this world, faith , yes, blind faith because I could no longer accept the teachings of the everyday world.and now I live with hope and peace and that blind faith is now reality, as though my eyes have been opened for the first time..
