Or is just the ramblings of a self absorbed fool who has an imaginary friend whom he places blind faith in and hides he true fear behind. Religion is silly. It is for the weak, you hide behind your god and claim that anyone who dare contradict your views is ultimately wrong. You claim your gods to be the one and only. You call him a merciful being. Yet throughout the years countless massacres have played out in the name of religions, execution flows through your bible. It is silly you place your faith in a man who would have you stone me for my not believing in him.

You cant face your mistakes like a man or an adult so you have to go to church and beg to be forgiven for your sins and then you believe that you will some how magically be forgiven for the mistakes that you have made. Others believe so much so that "Christ died for their sins" that they play on that. They commit wrong and they feel that they are invulnerable and couldn't possibly be at fault.

All I have to say to you is where is your god?
Have you actually seen him.
Until I have seen physical evidence or concrete proof that the god or entity of your belief exists then you believe in something that cannot be proved.

This is why I find atheism to make so much sense. As far as your comment earlier about men making up laws compared to the laws of god and how ours have no proof.... I find that many of our laws both science and in life are greater than your gods and have way more proof behind them then just blind faith and a book written in a time that that it cannot actually be traced back to.

AndyMasonW,
All that you have typed out is a paraphrased rendition of my ideas.
I am very sure you just jumped into the mainstream of the discussion, wihout even skimming through my original lead thread.
Now, read these and get back to me:
My kind of god is not a supernatural god, but a god that is as natural as nature could possibly be; the christian bible is stone dead! it is an obsolete collection of silly myths, puerile fables, useless fairy-tales and irrelevant folklores; my god neither forgives nor punishes sins; heaven is neither certain nor does hell have any existence; god/good/light is omnipresent, therefore the devil/evil/darkness is 'omniabsent', i.e. non-existent; god can neither be worsipped nor be served by man in any manner; god never created anything, and neither can it destroy the indestructible matter; the life of jesus, as it has been related in the bible, is a re-enactment of the lives of some ancient pagan gods.
andy, i advise that you go through my earlier posts, perhaps you will ...

The Nelson Mandela Foundation on Saturday thanked the world for carrying out good deeds in memory of the former president, whose birthday was celebrated on Friday.

“We have been heartened by the number of sustainable projects still thriving. At the same time it has been inspiring to see the range of innovative new projects to emerge,” foundation spokeswoman Danielle Melville said in a statement.

“We welcome the degree to which structures of the state, of civil society and in the private sector are working together for the campaign.”

Melville said people in 126 countries participated in Mandela Day, and more 1200 positive deeds had been registered on their website.

Nelson Mandela Day is celebrated on July 18, Mandela's birthday, when people are encouraged to give 67 minutes of their time and of themselves to help those less fortunate.

Mandela spent 67 years of his life working for social justice. He died at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, aged 95, on December 5. He was buried in his childhood village of Qunu on December 15.

Melville said in South Africa almost half a million food parcels had been distributed to needy people, and more than a million sanitary towels handed to schoolgirls.

Habitat for Humanity in South Africa built 67 houses in one week for the poor.

More than 15 000 books were also donated to school libraries.-

I disagree. If no one is a theist, everyone would be an atheist. The lack of people believing in the existence of a deity would simply make the absence of such belief the norm. It would not make the belief that no deities exist go away. It would merely trivialize that belief by the lack of opposition. No one believes that garden gnomes exist as living beings. One does not have to identify as being a-gnomist, because everyone is a-gnomist. You still possess the characteristic of disbelieving in living gnomes. You just don't have to discuss it because it is a universally shared characteristic.
Being an atheist now is a characteristic worthy of mention because it is different from the norm. If it were the norm, the belief would not change, only whether it is noteworthy.
I understand what you are saying, but my take on it is that if it doesn't exist, then the things which resulted from it will not exist either. If there are no theist, there can be no atheist. There will be a lack of theism in all things, but since theisms don't exist, atheism can't either.

I was always amazed at the stories in the
media, stories that I knew were not true. Whether they were the result of false information or, perhaps, they were just made up by the reporter, it made no difference. Investigators investigate; speculators speculate.
