My blog posts on religion have attracted a lot of controversy. Religious people are annoyed by my claim that belief in God will go the way of horse transportation, and for much the same reason, specifically an improved standard of living.

'Believe it or die' ugh? true to anything. Christ came to bring us the GoodNews, believe it or die. What's new? eventually we all die, hopefully a peacefull death as a Christian. A Christian follows the 10 Commandments and goes back to the Father.

When a True Believer gets diabetes or cancer, his or her choice to either rely on faith healing or go to a doctor pretty much shows deep-down where their faith truly lies...

I've always wanted ask a Christian to explain exactly how Jesus' death saved humanity.

I've asked a few Christian friends and they always reply by saying God sent his only son to die for our Sins.

But that doesn't answer my question.

How did Jesus' death atone for our sins and save humanity?

I would love a reasoned tangible answer.

I wish some one will answer your request and provide answer in simple English that makes sense.

There is no shortage of Hyperbole English Explanations that look great on paper, but make no sense.

And I add that some thing will do the same on Trinity, explain in Simple English what it means and how does it work.

If these answers are provided on at Atheist thread, it would do all the good in the world to so many people.

I'd rather a christian prove to me that Hitler didn't get forgiven and accepted into heaven.
The 3 abrahamic faiths allow for such terrible behaviour on Earth. Compared to the reincarnation religions, they judaism, christianity and islam are "get rich quick" scams.

Too dumb to learn? Too lazy to work? Then why not blow some people up and get fast tracked to heaven! You know it makes sense.

We are so used to hearing phrases like 'Jesus died for our sins'-'God sacrificed his only son to save humanity' and a believer wouldn't question it.

But when you look at it logically it doesn't mean anyhthing let alone make sense.

If Jesus died and suddenly there was peace among men then fair enough. But the world has got no better despite a billion people accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

It just doesn't stand up to reason.

The trinity is equally confusing because the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost are all the same thing apparently. So Jesus is his own father?

This isn't Christianity bashing because all the theist faiths have similar illogical aspects.

But i have been socialised in a Christian country so I have more knowledge about Christianity

You are right, we get so used to hear phrases that we just accept it without thinking.

In West you hear only about Jesus and Trinity.

In India from where I belong, there are hundreds of such names and claims and people claim things and do acts without any one understanding or explaining what they mean.

And there are hundreds of millions of blind followers, who follow these things without thinking or understanding or even knowing what they do.

Humans are really strange in some matters.

The Trinity is not a belief held by all christian denominations and I certainly cannot see where they can justify that interpretation from the bible! Jesus suffered and died to forgive all sins, past present and future so that everyone past, present and future can have everlasting life ! But to understand this you need to have a deeper understanding of the nature of man according to the Bible because that is where you will find the concept of what everlasting life really means ! No void ,No emptiness, No death of the soul ! Existence eternal !

He suffered and didn't die, he just had a near death experience. Have you ever heard of "saved by the bell"?, Jesus was not dead, but had he existed and had he not been able to escape his crypt, he would have actually died.
His "sacrifice" did not forgive sin. People are still being condemned and are still begging for that so called forgiveness. What he accomplished was simply nothing, other than dividing people even more. Maybe that was the goal, a little taste of being "better than you", and the normal hatred, torture, slavery, killings, the thefts had a new and holy purpose.

I find this really interesting so please don't take offense if I ask searching questions. I just like to learn.

So if Jesus died to forgive man's sins, past, present and future; why is man still born with original sin that condemns him to an afterlife outside heaven if he doesn't accept Jesus as his saviour or repent his sins.

The nature of man according to the bible is that we are naturally sinners, and even the pious will be punished by God if He so chooses. Man is an expendable commodity.

I take it you are not a Catholic. So who makes the rules on which Christian faith is the correct one.

This is not explanation. How could Jesus' death would pay for sins of each and every human, dead or living or who will be born in future?

How can this be proven from Bible (and from Bible, I do not mean Paul's arguments), I have yet to see.

I know what "everlasting life" means, the question is how Jesus' dieing would make any one get "everlasting life"?

Jesus' died that is a fact (according to you), so why accepting that he died for our sin or not accepting that he died for you sin, should open the door of "everlasting life"?

These are the questions which should be answered.....otherwise people just keep on repeating, Jesus died for us, it is by his blood that we shall enter into "everlasting life" etc. etc.

These are very common but illogical and unreasonable statements.

He was the last sacrifice ! In ancient times people believed that sickness, accidents even death was caused by sin, so they sacrificed anything and everything they could even their own children to appease their gods /or God ! Through God Jesus took that belief and threw it away by being crucified himself ( A Lamb), And showed by his actions and deeds throughout his physical existence that everlasting life is what exists after the physical life for everyone sinners included ! and that sickness, accidents, starvation were not caused by God trying to make you pay for a sin but are part of the learning experience of your soul being in a physical reality preparing for the spiritual in everlasting life ! So he "Died and Suffered" for your sins !

Man is not born of original sin ! Man is tempted in the flesh by sin ! Man is not expendable everyone of us is a child of God ! No one has an afterlife outside of heaven what you do have is the distance between your personal soul and God caused by the amount of sin and how well your spiritual being learned when you were in the physical realm ! Hell is how far you fell away from knowing God its not another realm ! I know my interpretation is quite different to what you are used to but they are mine ! The correct christian faith you should follow is the one that you have the least amount of problems with ! Believe in god believe in Jesus and his teachings and try to differentiate between man made dictates and laws and Gods ! It just confuses things :)

REPENT! repentance of having committed atrocious deeds against our neighbor and sometimes against ourselves. Going back to Adam and Eve, they had EVERYTHING but still the Nero complex was there and A & E wanted to be like gods Eve invited Adam to participate in disobeying God's order and following a LIE from the serpent. TRUE STORY. Time passed and the Israelites became the specially Chosen People. Not fair, so, then Jesus, the Christ came to solve the matter, to bring Divine Equality to everyone who belongs to the human race. Equality? uh? men and women, same opportunities? Jesus, conceived by the Holy spirit, born of the Chosen Virgin, lived a perfect life, told it like it should be and, as happens all the time,POLITICS, got in the picture. Who gives the best example to the Roman bosses of fealty? Jesus was crucified like a common criminal but HE yet lives as proven by the billions of Christian followers. HE LIVES! His atonement is his Death and yet HE LIVES. Your mind explodes when you realize that as a man as a woman you can reach HIM as we continue in this life and look forward to our REWARD once we get to Him after our death. This story is reasonable enough as we have our minds, our hearts. You can touch LOVE. you feel happiness. Want more? ASK
