Atheism to Defeat Religion by 2038

There are 24178 comments on the Psychology Today story from Apr 25, 2012, titled Atheism to Defeat Religion by 2038. In it, Psychology Today reports that:

My blog posts on religion have attracted a lot of controversy. Religious people are annoyed by my claim that belief in God will go the way of horse transportation, and for much the same reason, specifically an improved standard of living.

No one is born Atheists, only a stupid person would say that.

I was born into a Muslim family. My parents taught me about Islam.

But once I grew up, I studied Islam with care and attention as much as I could and I found it to be True religion.

Now if any one of us can convince me that Islam is not the best religion and his or her religion is in fact better than Islam, then I am ready to change my religion and accept their religion.

But it should be a serious and point by point discussion, not just expressing their views without any supporting proofs.

So far I have not met even a single person, who could convince me that their religion, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism or Sikhism .... Communism, Socialism, Nazism, Fascism ...or any ism is better than Islam and Islamic teachings.

Now regarding Atheism, it has no base and no body, just a bunch of idiots claiming there is no God.

How is can be better than Islam, when they even cannot define what is Atheism and who is an Atheist.

But I keep the floor open, let some one take up this challenge.

You do not have dirty thoughts but a dirtier mouth to express them.

It is the gutter language you use and it suits the sewer that you spew out.

PS:

This is as far as my civil upbringing allows me to go.

Your 'civil upbringing allows' you to abuse, rape and murder little girls.

MUQ "No one is born Atheists, only a stupid person would say that."

Everyone is born without a belief in God or gods. So they are Atheist or Agnostic, whichever you prefer.

"I was born into a Muslim family. My parents taught me about Islam."

Thank you for confirming what we know, that well over 90% of people just follow the religion of their upbringing.

"But once I grew up, I studied Islam with care and attention as much as I could and I found it to be True religion."

That was a bit of luck, being born into the one true faith ;)

Poor ol me. Born into one of the many false religions, Christianity.

Allah must really hate me!

"Now if any one can convince me that Islam is not the best religion and his or her religion is in fact better than Islam, then I am ready to change my religion"

Islam is a simpler religion than Christianity, with clearer teachings. It helps having one book, and not 66 contradictory ones.

I am skeptical of all religions. If I had to pick one, the ones in the Far East like Shintoism are the least superstitious, just in my view.

"Now regarding Atheism, it has no base and no body, just a bunch of idiots claiming there is no God."

Maybe cause there is no evidence of a God or gods, or for that matter ghosts or angels.

"How is can be better than Islam, when they even cannot define what is Atheism and who is an Atheist."

Atheism is a lack of belief in God or gods. An Atheist does not believe in God.

Its a system of thought based on reason rather than magic or superstition.

Indoctinated is the word. "Give me a boy under 7...."

Only a stupid person would insist that they were born with their specific, Abrahamic (or whatever) religion inherent in their mind or DNA.

Religion = superstition

Dear brother
I do not like these line by line remarks.
It would be better if you compose your posts in formal way, so I can study it and respond to it.
Some one might start posting, word by word response too!!
My posts are to illustrate to others exactly what is wrong with yours. I feel you've demonstrated to most reasonable people's satisfaction that you're too dim to comprehend what people write. "Islam's all I've got". "Nobody can convince me..." you say. I believe you. That illustrates one problem caused by 'religious teaching' and religious faith.

We aren't your students. I and others have offered detailed responses explaining exactly what is so perverse and ignorant in what you write. You just 'don't like line by line..' you want others to 'compose their thoughts'. Yours aren't composed better than ours and perhasp most people here, like me, seem quite disgusted by how ignorant you are.

You may know your version of Islam, but you understand almost no other point of view.

He has kindly related that his father was a big influence. I don't know about his education but he sounds as if he went from an ultra-conservative Islamic culture in India to work in an even more fundamentalist culture in Saudi Arabia. These influences seem to have left him ill-equipped to understand almost anything that is said to him, even the point that children are in no position to consent to sex and marriage.

Religion like all superstition is pernicious. why isn't always apparent to many people and even many westerners argue that there is no harm to it and emphasise cultural, political and other factors. Some even see religion as inherently good.

I think a common view is to believe in belief. Some atheists/ agnostics do not believe in myths themselves, but think that its important for society at large that the populace has some myths to believe in. Quite patronising if you ask me!

It is a result of the indoctrination of the religious nonsense. Since all of them start this indoctrination when they are young, it's very difficult to actually break it all. A conflict of such cannot exist forever though, eventually they will crack and either break free of the indoctrination completely, seeing the danger of the delusion and thus knowing we need to reduce it's presence in the species, or they will relapse. Sadly many do relapse and drop back into the delusional world of faeries, goblins, and gods.

The pity is that your eyes are not as open as much as you want the floor to be; just about EVERY page in this forum offers a good definition of the word "Atheist," all that's NEEDED is for you to comprehend fundamentals of the English Language, and cease being a f@cking idiot, give your arse a chance.
