Atheism to Defeat Religion by 2038

Apr 25, 2012 Full story: Psychology Today 23,072

My blog posts on religion have attracted a lot of controversy. Religious people are annoyed by my claim that belief in God will go the way of horse transportation, and for much the same reason, specifically an improved standard of living.

Atheism is a lack of belief in god. It is your own stupidity that prevents you from understanding and accepting this definition.

On the other hand you are happy to lie to us about a god that you have no proof of and that nobody has had proof of since the first theist hallucinated and lied to his family and friends about his experiences.

In America is a free country unlike Saudi Arabia a country imprisoned by religion sharia law.

I'm not an atheist I'm a secular humanist.
I think the best term should be irreligious.

With over 1200 Christian organizations, the USA has a greater number of Jesus fan clubs than any other country in the world. The proliferation of variegated brands of Christianity in America is so extreme that it acquires a comic dimension. One might discern only a subtle difference in name between, say, the "Evangelical Congregational Church" and the "Evangelical Covenant Church", or the "Church of God in Christ" and "Church of Christ" but miss a gulf of doctrinal distinction.

But then, who is bothered about doctrine anyway? Denominations, a source of so much anguish and bloodshed in the past, have diminishing importance in the era of evangelical psychosis, mega-churches and apocalyptic blockbusters. The important thing is to "have religion". "With religion" you are a patriot, defending the American way of life; without religion you are a subversive radical, an enemy.

Christianity USA is all show business and emotional razzmatazz. Organised as international corporations, with a globalised "mission" of subsidiary offices, its product is propaganda, pouring in prodigious quantity from a network of TV and radio stations and publishing houses. The intent is to draw further millions into the mass of devotees.

In choreographed extravaganzas Pastor whips up mindless love of Jesus and serious fund raising, and then retreats to his opulent sanctuary, content in knowing that he is a tireless servant of the Lord.

Atheism in power may not be the answer
The Soviet Union under Lenin and Stalin was the first state to have, as an ideological objective, the elimination of religion and its replacement with universal atheism.

The communist regime confiscated religious property, ridiculed religion, harassed believers, and propagated atheism in schools.

The confiscation of religious assets was often based on accusations of illegal accumulation of wealth.

The question is very simple, but answer requires books upon books, in Quran Allah says "If you (try to) count Allah's bounties, you will not be able do so".

So I will just give you one more example:

2. Our Ears:

Have you ever thought, what a great things our ears are? They are the most sophisticated hearing machines that one can think of.

They have the highest dynamic range of any machine that any human can design.

Without sense of hearing, how difficult would be human life?

We realize the value of ears, once we develop some problem with it.

How much money we spend on hearing aids and what not to get some relief, while none of our contraptions work as good as original ears.

And then we thank the Doctors and pay them a hefty sum, for helping us.

Do we do the same for God who provided us the gift of ears and did not charge a penny?

Please reflect on it.

One more time for the extremely dense...

Atheism embodies no particular ideology, world view or dogma and cannot be justified as any significant factor in the activities of these people.

If anything, the lack of belief in a supernatural overlord leaves one to respect the importance of all of mankind peacefully coexisting, because unlike in religious doctrine, the penalties one may face for immoral acts are often levied in the material world, during the life of the perpetrator.

Indeed to the founder of communist doctrines, Karl Marx (1818-1883), atheism, was just a stage on the path to communism, and it was ultimately "unreal" and "no longer needed" by socialism and communism.

This is what Karl Marx himself said about atheism: "Atheism as a denial of this unreality; has no longer any meaning, for atheism is a denial of God and tries to assert through this negation the existence of man; but socialism as such no longer needs this mediation."

Consider this statement carefully!

If Karl Marx, the intellectual founder of Marxism and communism, repudiated atheism as meaningless and no longer needed, how then could atheism be considered the cause of the atrocities committed under communism?

Magna res est vocis et silentii temperamentum!

It is time for people of intellect, as opposed to people of faith, to stand up and declare to respect people for what they individually think, rather than respect groups for what they were collectively brought up to believe.

Raised in the Georgian Orthodox faith, Stalin became an atheist. He followed the position that religion was an opiate that needed to be removed in order to construct the ideal communist society. His government promoted atheism through special atheistic education in schools, anti-religious propaganda, the antireligious work of public institutions (Society of the Godless), discriminatory laws, and a terror campaign against religious believers. By the late 1930s it had become dangerous to be publicly associated with religion.[107]

Stalin's role in the fortunes of the Russian Orthodox Church is complex. Continuous persecution in the 1930s resulted in its near-extinction as a public institution: by 1939, active parishes numbered in the low hundreds (down from 54,000 in 1917), many churches had been leveled, and tens of thousands of priests, monks and nuns were persecuted and killed. Over 100,000 were shot during the purges of 1937–1938.[108][109] During World War II, the Church was allowed a revival as a patriotic organization, and thousands of parishes were reactivated until a further round of suppression during Khrushchev's rule. The Russian Orthodox Church Synod's recognition of the Soviet government and of Stalin personally led to a schism with the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.

Just days before Stalin's death, certain religious sects were outlawed and persecuted. Many religions popular in ethnic regions of the Soviet Union, including the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Catholic Churches, Baptists, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism underwent ordeals similar to that which the Orthodox churches in other parts of the country suffered: thousands of monks were persecuted, and hundreds of churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, sacred monuments, monasteries and other religious buildings were razed. Stalin had a different policy outside the Soviet Union; he supported the Communist Uyghur Muslim separatists under Ehmetjan Qasim in the Ili Rebellion against the Anti Communist Republic of China regime. He supplied weapons to the Uyghur Ili army and Red Army support against Chinese forces, and helped them establish the Second East Turkestan Republic of which Islam was the official state religion.

Even practicing Christians I know don't seriously believe that a god sent a prophet to Earth to 'show us the way'. They're rather superstitious, not downright stupid. Most don't seem convinced of an interventionist god by any means (let alone an Abrahmic one) and are also uncertain of any afterlife.
I must be careful of course and not presume to know what they think, but that's the impression I get. I don't ordinarily challenge their beliefs as it can seem rude or aggressive and I don't wish to seem confrontational. Discussing religion is often unwelcome. The subject seldom crops-up except in news items when we all seem to agree. For instance, we broadly agree on equality for gay marriage; women should have control of their own bodies and reproductive decisions; and that boy scouts shouldn't have to swear a promise to gods or monarchs.

02. Irreligious? Is that another hue of Atheism? When you have no definition of Atheism, any one can sneak in and out of your club, with no questions asked.

03. You are right, in USA Christianity has become a "business.", there are churches for specific purposes all engaged in "fund collection" and majority acting like "charity workers for Zionists".

It is these Church groups that pester US Govt. to give every facility to Zionist and support "Baby Israel"

REPUBLICANS HOLD HEARINGS ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON’S POLL NUMBERS
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Republican lawmakers asked increasingly tough questions today as they held another day of hearings to investigate, in the words of Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California),“Hillary Clinton’s suspiciously high poll numbers and what can be done to make them lower.”
“With the help of Fox News, we have brutally attacked Hillary Clinton for months, and yet she remains more popular than ever,” Rep. Issa said.“This committee needs to know how that happened, and how we can keep it from happening in the future.”
Rep. Issa pointed to recent polls showing the former Secretary of State trouncing every potential G.O.P. Presidential candidate,“even a skinnier version of Chris Christie.”
“We demand an answer to one simple question,” he said.“What does Secretary Clinton know that none of us knows?”
In his boldest allegation of the day, Rep. Issa accused Secretary Clinton of “cynically using her post as Secretary of State to become wildly popular with the American people.”
“I invite her to these hearings to answer those charges,” he said.
Wrapping up for the day, Rep. Issa warned the former Secretary of State that he was just getting started:“Once we Republicans decide to investigate someone, we don’t stop. If Secretary Clinton doesn’t believe me, she should ask her husband.”
Brilliant!
