Atheism to Defeat Religion by 2038

Apr 25, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Psychology Today

My blog posts on religion have attracted a lot of controversy. Religious people are annoyed by my claim that belief in God will go the way of horse transportation, and for much the same reason, specifically an improved standard of living.

oh how I wish it were true that the worst sorts of religion would fade out. I am not that optimistic. I would settle for just getting rid of the evil aspects of religion. the ones that are harmless. i have Christian friends who have gotten rid of some of the worst parts, I think, in their views.

Religious monkeys are the root of all evil, that is a FACT!

Sadly for the moment the human monkey is "easily led". But live in hope. Intellegence might yet surpass superstition?

One thing’s for sure: humanists are poised to reach out to the growing number of “nones” and show humanism as the reason-based alternative to traditional religion.
Unquote.

From:
http://www.thea-blast.org/in-depth/2011/03/29...
look at a country such as Saudi Arabia. Although there is no law in place that requires citizens to be Muslim, almost all Saudi Arabian citizens are Muslim. Religious freedom is severely limited to non-existent. In 2004, the U.S. State Department declared that “freedom of religion does not exist in Saudi Arabia” and that “non-Muslim worshippers risk arrest, imprisonment, lashing, deportation and sometimes torture.”
Unquote.

Make of that what you will, but you'll be hard-put to indicate where religion is increasing amongst an educated and free population.

Well, atheism is already the majority view amongst the population of the world in general, even if people go through the motions of religion just to fit in with others of their tribe.

As I just posted on the site:

-----

Religion will continue to exist as long as these two things also exist:

(1) Uneducated masses who can't think rationally (especially in regard to their biases).

(2) Biased, corrupt and opportunistic "leaders" who see religion as a short cut to wealth, power, sex and social status.

Because those two things are likely to always be with us, we will unfortunately never see the demise of the demented deists.

I don't think it will ever happen; since there is not a single evidence with the atheists that the Creator God does not exist.

If you have give it here.

Do you have any evidence that there are no invisible sock gremlins?

If you have it, give it here.

This is consistent with the figure one arrives at by extrapolating the ARIS data, although that was for the US and not the world:

That's OK. Religion can exist in a shrunken, disempowered and irrelevant form, and you won't even know its there - like the Druids. You wouldn't mind Christianity if it were like Druidism. For example, what's the Druid position on abortion or gay marriage? Me, neither, and that's exactly the point. The Christians appear to be on their way to that status, too.

This is an exciting time for unbelievers.

You don't think it will ever happen? Your thought is faith based. You think whatever is comforting to you. It is happening. As for evidence, with the advent of satellite telecommunications and the Internet, the secret is out: Your church is the evidence.

How do you think we discovered the pedophile sex ring operating in the Catholic Church? That's centuries old. But the boys and their families could never find out about one another in the past, keeping the church cloaked in secrecy.

Not any more. The families found one another on the Internet, and the magnitude of the problem emerged. The same with the televangelists.

Besides, there is proof that Jehovah-Jesus doesn't exist, but it is irrelevant and unnecessary. Rational skeptics don't need disproof to reject a bare claim, especially an extraordinary one, and you don't care about evidence or reason. So, why bother?

Although I have to sadly agree, one can only hope. Religion preys on the guilt, pain, and hoplessness of humanity. It demands indoctrination from birth, so as to continue and propagate it's parasitic hold on humanity. The good news is, that more and more people are leaving the myth behind. As people become better and better educated, they will eventually outgrow the infantile need for an invisible sky-gremlin, and will lose the fear that religion uses to keep the sheep in line. I may not see it in my lifetime, but I hope my children or at worst my grandchildren will one day see a world void of the plauge that is religion.

The utopian state of the authors hypothesis necessary to achieve his prediction is little more than wishful thinking. The nature of humanity is diametrically opposed to harmony.

Capitalism is the only hope humanity has to survive and flourish.
