Christianity and atheism are two sides of the same coin

Jun 27, 2013 Full story: The Guardian 9

Those of us with no faith have a lot to learn about the value of halting the normal rhythms of life and stopping to reflect The annual parliamentary prayer breakfast in Westminster Hall is an excellent example of the importance of public ritual.

This at the end shows everything thats wrong here.
"but for unbelievers the sentiment if not the sacral nature of the prayer breakfast should be taken seriously. In some quarters it is. In 2008, the British Humanist Association started something of a tradition like this. You can guess what it's called, right? The no prayer breakfast."
If it is a religious occasion then the sentiment goes hand in hand with the sacral nature, as it is something only for Christian's.
This was dumb to.
"Faith or no faith, and whether you're enthusiastic, indifferent or apoplectic, the breakfast is a brilliant example of why public ritual matters. Those of us with no faith have a lot to learn about the value of halting the normal rhythms of life and stopping to reflect. We could all benefit from prayer breakfasts, or at least something akin to such a metaphysical break."
No it does not show the value of stopping, Christian ceremonies are at their core about pleasing God not reflection. The way to learn the value of stopping is to keep going and think "why did I just do that?" The moment times of reflection become something done by the state regularly it loses value as it becomes a political ad board.

I don't see where the author was able to support his statement about "Christianity and atheism being two sides of the same coin."

The aricle doesn't sound worth reading but one thing's for sure: the world will be a better place when religion is seen for what it is - superstition.

Atheism will be of no consequence when religion is marginalised. We're all apixie-ists, but without believers in pixies nobody need care.

Not really... the other side of the christian coin would be satanism.

Another silly belief system, equally as flawed as is christianity.

Athiesm, in this metaphor, would be having no coin at all.

Idiots.

It is the object of faith that is important.

Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. Faith in all else leads to Hell.

Having "no coin" at all will be exclusion to eternal joy also.

I have no faith at all. What then?

I **especially** have no faith in ugly mythology that teaches it's stupid and sheep-like followers that everyone is less than pond scum.

There is no heaven above, no hell below.

It's an ugly myth that is used to make people into... mutton.

I've read about your "eternal joy". Sounds like hell to me.

Endless sheep-like *baahing* feeding the massive, bloated ego of an ugly and tiny-minded little godling.

That's not "joy". That's.... animal-like *baaah*

Sounds like some form of mafia extortion.
