NightSerf,
Many thanks for yet another show of kindness and concern.
The good the believers cannot do, copiously do the non-believers dish them out to all and sundry.
How do you think Topix will view it should I invite people from across other Topix sub-forums to Atheism forum (1) that many users may participate in the debate, and (2) so as to avoid multiple posting of the same thread across several sub-forums.
The invitation note is intended for today, while the thread proper is tentatively slated for tomorrow.
Remain blessed.

I'll ask again.

Do you believe in an all powerful compassionate god?

Atheists, Agnostics, Sceptics etc., should safely be considered loosely as disbelievers/unbelievers, without according them any halo of clearly defined religion or school of thought.
Let the Atheists/Agnostics/Sceptics know that they are merely maintaining an opposition to an existing belief, meaning that they have no belief in or knowledge of the God they so much hate.
While Theism, i.e. belief in God, should be considered a postulate/thesis in an argument, and Atheism/Agnosticism/Scepticism , i.e. disbelief in God, serves as a counter-argument/antithesis in a polemic, The Universal Religion proves to be the synthesis, i.e. harmonization of belief in God and disbelief in God, to bring out knowledge of God in His absoluteness.

No I don't believe, I know that God is all-powerful and good, but not compassionate.

I don't believe your god can be good if it is not compassionate.

Atheism cannot be destroyed, until after theism is destroyed. Atheism is simply the lack of theism. If theism no longer existed, then neither would it's lack.

To eradicate man's disbelief in gods is impossible, but to attempt it you would have to first prove a god or gods, and then prove that/those god or gods to every single human alive, and even then some would still not believe.

I don't see how that could violate the Terms of Service unless the goal was to inundate the forum so as to make it unusable for its core members.

Christianity borrowed its central myths and ceremonies from other ancient religions. The ancient world was rife with tales of virgin births, miracle-working saviors, tripartite gods, gods taking human form, gods arising from the dead, heavens and hells, and days of judgment. In addition to the myths, many of the ceremonies of ancient religions also match those of that syncretic latecomer, Christianity. To cite but one example (there are many others), consider Mithraism, a Persian religion predating Christianity by centuries. Mithra, the savior of the Mithraic religion and a god who took human form, was born of a virgin; he belonged to the holy trinity and was a link between heaven and Earth; and he ascended into heaven after his death. His followers believed in heaven and hell, looked forward to a day of judgment, and referred to Mithra as "the Light of the World." They also practiced baptism (for purification purposes) and ritual cannibalism—the eating of bread and the drinking of wine to symbolize the eating and drinking of the god’s body and blood. Given all this, Mithra's birthday should come as no surprise: December 25th; this event was, of course, celebrated by Mithra’s followers at midnight.

As you can well imagine, we've seen similar claims on this forum many times over the years. as a result, we've become quite jaded, assuming that the next one will be more or less the same collection of fallacious arguments and questionable assertions. But perhaps you will surprise us.

A number of posters on Topix have claimed to be jesus.
This latest nutjob with delusions of grandeur is tame in comparison.

I've had trouble with one or two innocent, clean posts disappearing. I wonder if this one will.

Mikko,
Atheism is already irredeemably dead.
Haven't you read my killer post?
I dare the Atheists the world over.
Come on! Let me see you make any rescue attempt, and you will end up blaming her of its suicidal act.
