There are problems with jide oni's contention that atheism is being silenced. First of all, the number of nonbelievers continues to grow faster than the population growth--from 18% in 2009 to 26% in 2013 according to a recent Harris poll. Secondly, nonbelievers seem to be disproportionally articulate and literate, often dominating the forums in which that participate. Notice, for instance, that the best and most prolific writers here are nonbelievers. Even the growing number of news articles disparaging atheism are a sign of our growing presence in the public form.

Jide oni is apparently one of those who believes that if you say or write something often enough, it becomes true.

Not true.

But I am not a believer myself. Problem with comprehension?

Yes, yes, you've argued, "I don't believe--I know!" Sorry, but that argument has been used by many before you, and it still doesn't wash.

Certainty may feel like knowledge, but it is not the same thing. I could be absolutely certain that C-Ionian and F-Phrygian were the same keys, and I'd still be dead wrong.

To show that your sense of certainty is the same as knowledge, you'd have to provide a logically sound argument based on universally accepted axiomatic premises that would convince all but the most stubborn of your readers. So far, as far as I can see, you haven't been able to win over even one. That's not because this forum is comprised of stubborn and unreasonable folk, but because you have failed in your task thus far.

No matter how certain you are of your beliefs, they are still beliefs, not knowledge.

You are a believer.

Not with the crap you are hawking. Education and the failure of one religion's god after another to impact any of us, is why our numbers are growing, and while I agree you are doing your part to deter that forward movement of mankind's minds. Knowing that you play such a small part, means we'll not worry about you actually gaining any ground. It's been a few minutes pigeon, shouldn't you be tooting your own horn, singing your own praises, or at least giving yourself a gold star?

Not that I noticed. I let a little of your thoroughly assailable "logic" pass without any response, and the responses you did get confirmed your utter failure. You have proved nothing at all except in your own very foggy mind.

There ya go, tooting it again all by yourself.

Not at all, with the crap you are hawking.

You know no more about a god, than your average minnow does. You are guessing like everyone else does, and your guess is not even a good one. A god wouldn't give a human, or any number of humans his wand to wave. We would all know of him, and we would all know of the same god, and that ain't what is happening on this godless planet.

It's been a few minutes pigeon, shouldn't you be tooting your own horn, singing your own praises, or at least giving yourself a gold star?
