I only did it because it was a convenient springboard for a larger point. Most people, even the theists here, recognize that the psychic/spellcaster/mystic mumbo jumbo is a fraud. But, when you look at it more deeply, you see that in terms of the amount of evidence supporting it, it is really no different than other religious mumbo jumbo. None of them have any evidence to support them. Which, in turn, leaves theists without a rational basis to attack someone else's mumbo jumbo while maintaining belief in their own.

The proof that atheism is a religious movement, actually a fundamentalist one at that because atheists are fundamentalist type believers whose belief systems automatically reject ANY evidence that contradicts the belief system. One can post facts over and over again to atheists but it matters not a whit because they don't care a fig about facts that show their ideas being silly and ill-researched. And so rejecting any science findings like the brain spiritual capacity for example, atheists just HAVE to post their meaningless ideology--because for them its all about EGO. Can't have their egos shown up by theists so we get everyday on this thread as on every day on other Christian forums, these atheists fanatics here everyday. They have to do it because fundies just get obsessed with their war against reason that they think is a war against religionists.

I suggest to my God-conscious fellow posters that they stop engaging atheists here in debate because as Mykro's excellent example of a fundamentalist atheist's posts show, they don't reason so there's no point in debating anything with them. It becomes a waste of time.

Atheism dies when it can't attack Christianity. They got a hardon for Christianity which is why there's no atheism category but they are placed where they always show up--in the Christian threads.

Try it, theists. Don't post and watch this thread die because negative reactionary ideologies, which atheism is, can't generate interest in the public.

Anyone who disbelieves in a god can be considered an atheist. It really is as simple as that...

But then again what do you expect with people who just pick and choose what they want to believe from their religion.
you are right. that is exactly the point. the vast majority of religious "authorities" set themselves up as the ultimate authority when it comes to deciding what they will believe or follow. they also tend to distort and take things out of context knowing that people generally are lazy and won't really search it out for them selves.
however my point is that the accusations made were really dishonest and relied on ignorance and laziness.

You choose to live by rules that you don't even care to learn, because somebody else followed them you will too. Hey if it works for you, you can just not read the filthy book, and continue to call those who have read it, liars.
Jehivah owns it, in Leviticus, he flat out says that when he is angered he will punish you seven times what you deserve, and you will eat your children. Praze the lard!
alright then, how about posting one of your "straight from the Bible" claims/accusations and we'll see just what the Bible says in total about what you happen to think.
you make a fuzzy claim without any details and it seems so shocking. let's look at the rest of the details.

A religion without a 'god' pray tell, who do they pray to and worship?

Do Buddhist believe in god?

No,. There are several reasons for this. The Buddha, like modern sociologists and psychologists, believed that religious ideas and especially the god idea have their origin in fear. The Buddha says:
"Gripped by fear men go to the sacred mountains,
sacred groves, sacred trees and shrines".

Atheists don't pray or worship any 'gods' or imaginary beings. It's not a religion moron. It's the antithesis of religion.

You really are mathematically and/or chronologically challenged. The current year is 2013. Therefore, the period "within the last hundred years" would encompass the time from 1913 to date. 1930 falls between 1913 and 2013, as does 1940. To a mathematical certainty, we can say that the Holocaust in Germany happened "within the last 100 years". Apparently, in addition to not knowing what century you live in, you are also incapable of counting back 100 years from the current date. Home schooled, I presume?

Buddhists don't "pray to" any deity. They don't "worship" the Buddha. The Buddha is an enlightened teacher, but a mortal man, not a deity. He is revered, but not worshiped. At least in theory. I've been to enough Buddhist celebrations and in enough Buddhist homes to have seen behavior towards Buddha statues closely approximating "worship" whether it is called that or not.

My browser says: http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/atheism/T...

Atheism does, indeed have its own forum, separate and distinct from christian forums. When you make false statements that are so easily demonstrated to be false, it leads me to wonder: did you know that your statement was false and intentionally try to deceive your readers, or are you simply not interested in investing the effort in finding out whether your statements are true or not before posting them. Neither choice is particularly flattering to your credibility. If we cannot trust you when you make statements of fact like this, how could anyone possibly take your mumbo jumbo about the "age of aquarius" and mystical faces in the sky, for which you have no evidence whatsoever, seriously?

Ed, look at that word you used "disbelieves". That is your clue to remind you that atheism is a belief system. And as I point out, a very fundamentalist one at that with atheist believers firmly convinced that any science facts contradicting the atheist belief system are wrong, i.e. the exact same fundamentalist mindset one sees in any religious fundamentalist believers. Atheists want to believe themselves not believers but when you have to scotch science facts in order to maintain atheist belief, well, there you are--atheists exposed as fundies like the Christian religious ones they are wedded to as one can see on any Christian forums.

Stunningly silly. Is not believing in Santa Claus a "belief"? Of course not. An atheist who says, there has not yet been enough proof of the existence of god to cause me to conclude that god more probably exists than not is not espousing a "belief", he/she is expressing an opinion as to the state of the evidence.

You go on and on about atheists are "scotching" "science facts" which allegedly disprove their position. I think it is significant that you keep your rant on that level of abstraction and do not provide a single example of a "science fact" which disproves atheism. I think it is because there are no such "science facts", and, like so much else in your posts, it is just something you thought was covered in your Mystic License to Make Stuff Up.

Amused, to hold your "not believing in Santa Claus" belief, you have to ignore the fact of history of Saint Nicolas, don't you? I believe in Saint Nicolas's existence and therefore, knowing that he is the central character in the Santa Claus mythology, I would never say as you atheists do, not being logical thinkers but fundies, that "there is no Santa Claus." You see, fundamentalist atheists, you have to act out your prejudiced opinions based on deliberate refusal to see facts. I can do this for Jesus Christ too, as can most any knowledgeable Christian scholar who knows that the Talmud records a Yeshua or Yeishu ben Pantera, son of Joseph ben Pantera and Miriam ben Stada, a young woman betrothed to a good Jewish man who ran off with Joseph and created a big scandal. So deal with the origins of mythos, buds. And know that when you trot out your prejudices based as we see on partial, prejudiced research if any besides atheist propaganda, that we see through you and can see the behavior of fundamentalist BELIEVERS.

That you can't stop yourselves from posting your fundie atheist beliefs over and over again on Christian boards also marks the fundie behavior pattern. I post because I have new information but you guys have nothing but your putdowns to offer. And a negative belief system is still a belief system.

As for science examples, anyone is free to do a Google search on the God Gene for starters. That will bring up all the websites where brain studies have shown how our human brains have evolved to process spiritual phenomena and as a spiritual visionary I can attest along with Shakers and Quakers and even Muhammad, that the human brain has its special physical responses to spiritual energy coming into it. Tell us, oh great ones of human knowledge, what invisible physical force is it that makes one's body shake as it passes through and leaves new information in one's head? I'm an artist too and I've never had any creative moment do this nor know of any other creative people who have but it is a common reported event for religious visionaries. Please explain what it is, atheist. Please explain how an invisible physical force creates ideas that follow a specific theme? You guys just really have never stopped to realize that without spiritual experience yourselves you atheists will never know what you're talking about and just parade ignorant opinions. Doesn't matter if your Amused or Dawkins, without actual experience in the subject that you have opinions about your views are worthless twaddle.

Now I'm going to obey my own advice and stop responding to atheist fundies who one cannot reason with-hence no point to debating them. I recommend this to other theists who are drawn into countering atheist propaganda put on Christian boards (because public Atheism seems to be a Christian religious talkboard phenomena..)
