Signs of the Apocalypse?

"You Gotta Not Believe" should be the campaign slogan of an atheist group spending a cool fifteen grand to put up billboards at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

"Mounting the assault" ... so when we point out the reality of a religion, it's an attack. But when they put up billboards degrading people for being gay, it's "honesty."

Gotta love that religious logic.

Religious logic? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Quote from article, ""When atheists organize to serve the poor and needy of the world, they will be taken more seriously."
They are and they do. "Christian" charities like Oxfam UK couldn't function without their atheist component. The HSS (Scotland) do charity work and the BHA (British) fund schools in Africa (amongst other charity work)..

Atheists and humanists are NOT less moral or altruistic than religionists. We simply don't believe superstitions such as 'Jesus died for our sins'.

It isn't a matter of 'converting people'. That is religionist logic.

It is a simple fact that religion is superstition and causes division and trouble in society. Polls show that many USAmericans are disinclined to vote for atheists simply for their lack of religious beliefs.
http://www.positiveatheism.org/writ/ghwbush.h...

The aim is to show rational people that there are many atheists out there and that people can be quite open about the fact that they may only believe anything as far as the belief can be justified by reason and evidence.

Many non-religionists like me think having faith is inherently harmful.

To show a persons lack of education and understanding of the given situation, a fool resorts to slander and filthy speech or calling people names.

So typical of a stupid waste of human flesh.

Atheists are not a group. some atheists are humanists, and humanitarians in policy views and personal activity. many Christians are humanitarians, but I suspect that many are not. Atheism does not pretend to include any ethic, since it is a statement about only one thing - a lack of belief in a God or gods. Religion usually includes a pretense of some sort of ethic. Some of it is moralistic and even horribly judgmental and brutal. Some of it is ethical and humane. depending partly on the denomination and partly on the person.

Skeptic is not polite. He claims to be a hard atheist and to know there is no God, but that there is no need to prove it. He is probably an atheist, but a not-nice one. but maybe he is a troll trying to cause trouble. I have given all atheists an opportunity to repudiate him. some do, some don't, some defend him.

In the next comment, Skeptic seems to know you were discussing him. But I have a different view. sometimes a person might actually be educated, and understand a situation, and not be a fool regarding substance - and yet for some strange psychological reason, prefer not to discuss something rationally, or argue civillyi, but instead resort to slander and filthy speech and calling people names. I suspect that may be the case with Skeptic. so what is your excuse for your nasty comment "so typical of a stupid waste of human flesh"? pot calling kettle....

he thinks anyone who disagrees with him is a paid poster for those guys. like you wrote before, he's a false (or at least careless and heedless) accuser.

by the way, I am an agnostic atheist, and not necessarily agreeing with you other than the criticism of Skeptic. try not to lower yourself to his level, whatever side you are on.
