Ever watch a clip of prehistoric civilization congregating when all of the sudden, astronauts descend and people automatically think they are "Gods"..

The fact is. When you are born, you don't have a choice to believe any differently. They force you to believe something you may grow not to believe. Then you feel ashamed that you see things differently.

To me it's the greatest story every told. Do I believe there is a "GOD". Not anymore.

If I don't go to work, GOD is not going to pay my bills. Some may blame him for winning the Lotto, but no one will give him credit for walking up to the counter and paying for the winning ticket. That's my .02

Wolfgang Pauli was very clear when he wrote:“One should no more rack one's brain about the problem of whether something one cannot know anything about exists all the same, than about the ancient question of how many angels are able to sit on the point of a needle."

So what is it about the bible that makes you believe it contains the truth?

I see no real evidence of a god. Also, if you examine history, there were thousands of gods that are now considered myths. I see no example of any modern god being any different.
I was raise as a christian, but eventually I found so many flaws in the bible, which is supposed to be the word of god(or at least to be inspired by god) and a total lack of real morality, I simply cannot believe in a god. In addition, if the bible were an accurate account of god, he has to be one of the most disgusting, immoral, and petty things in existance. I could easily compare myself to him, and come out waaaaaay ahead as far as compassion, kindness, love, decency, morality, and good parenting. And I do not consider myself a god!!

Oh, and in case you were curious, in addition to having read the bible from front to back several times, I have also read the
Sutra Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka and the Abhidhamma Pitaka. I have read the koran, I have read the vedas(Rig, yajus, sAma, atharva), and I have even read the Kalpa Sutra. Very interesting, but still not for me.

Thank you for your insight. I can't agree with what you said. If people expect God to pay their bills or gain alot of money through Him, they will be very dissappointed.

Ok, I hope you have peace in your heart and all is well with everything. We will never agree on this, but good luck on finding whatever you are seeking.

Thanks, but are you going to answer my question? Why do you believe in god? What is this truth you speak of?
In other words, why do you place your faith in the existance of this god? Is it simply a matter of you were taught that god is real from birth, or have you honestly seen something that is conclusive? Really, I am curious.

Oh, you want proof. Physical proof? That I cannot provide. Nor do I need it. You can't see or touch Him. God is not something you can test in a lab or viewed in a microscope.
I believe in God because I feel him in my heart.

"Sceintist can tell us how the sun rises, but God lets us know why."

(Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.)

No I wasn't raised in my household this way. I had to find it on my own.
Sorry for quoting others, but I hope it answers your questions.

Actually, if your god can suspend the laws of physics to interact with people then we can test it.

Ok if it hasn't had an influence on you then it means the devil is wispearing to you, he can control your thoughts, did you know that?. God chooses to help those he pleases and he tests who he pleases aswell.. But what would you know about wrong or right? We look at this world..this life as a big test. Those who fail this exam wil enter hell and those who pass will enter heaven. For those who convert to Islam are cleansed from all sins, even if have done the worst of things. God forgives people that ask him directly for forgiveness but if you die WITHOUT repent, without asking for forgivess, you'll be punished in the hereafter.

Thanks for answering my question.
Your god is real to you because you have an imaginary friend. You are not alone, but I pity you.

So what does it mean to say she/he/it exists?
I believe in God because I feel him in my heart.
Is the heart a reliable indicator of existence?

yes, that is the myth. Now, why should anyone take it seriously?

Not at all. In fact, it shows the lack of answers.

I would go further. To expect *anything* from God is to lead to disappointment because God doesn't exist.

Changed the meanings of what? The holy books? Again if that were so then show copies of the Koran that pre date the Hebrew or Greek scriptures. You can't because the koran stole from those. And they stole from the Egyptians and Sumerian religions.

Allah wants his followers to suicide bomb children?

Let's think about this. I go to a thread that claims to have proof of no God. And they show none but I am expected to show proof there is a God?
Your Daft!
Let's see, you are claiming but are not willing to prove. The thread makes comment in it's title, but does not direct that comment in any particular direction. "Proof there is no god" makes no claim, it is merely comment, and not necessarily a statement.
You make claim, but choose not to prove, the thread does not make claim.

Proof there is no god!
Proof there is no god?
Proof there is no god.

And "Your Daft!". Did you mean, "you are", KJV you? As in "You're" so clueless

I'd bet that your god doesn't know that all humans begin as female, does he? You really need to keep him away from facts, he'd freak smooth out, to find that the natural human default is female and atheist.
He is the last of the three wag the wienie, misogynistic gods of Abraham, he couldn't handle reality.

Shouldn't heaven be a place where women got themselves a few sexy "last all night" stud muffins, for having lived the good and holy life, while they were on earth?
