Dude, you have no clue what you're talking about.
Dude! You have no clue... about ... pretty much 100% of everything.
Yankee Yahoo wrote:
Could have existed ... that is not science. There is no evidence to support anything existed prior to the Big Bang (and I INCLUDE the dense hot mass prior to that point.)
Are you really this stupid (daft) or did you take special brain-removal classes?

Did I claim there was evidence? Nope-- in fact, I categorically stated it is IMPOSSIBLE for any and all information to pass the barrier of the initial conditions.

But you-- in your "infinite wisdom" (sarcasm) claim that YOU HAVE SUCH EVIDENCE-- IN THE FORM OF YOUR MONSTER-GOD!

Wow... just... wow...

You manage to contradict yourself... AGAIN.

And that's enough of you.

<quoted text> I think it might be interesting to find out what does make people who were raised with religious views turn atheist. Is it rational thought? or is it turning against a repressive life-style? I think several of the atheists in here became atheists, despite religious backgrounds, or perhaps because of them.(instead of being lucky like I was and free from religion from the start - with agnostic parents who did not believe in the Biblical God, at least - did not consider others except as Greek myths).
With me it was a combination of things:

1) I refuse to lie about facts
2) I refuse to take the unsubstantiated word of anyone-- again, facts please
3) I've always been like this, from my earliest childhood memories, I was always asking "why"

These are 3 of several reasons why I eventually admitted I could no longer lie to myself (faith)--

-- it was a while longer, after discussing the meanings of things with actual self-proclaimed atheists, that I realized I was one too.

More than once, when I was little, I was told by a sunday school "teacher" to go wait in the hall-- because I asked too many difficult questions, and refused to take "mystery of god" as an answer.

I learned early, that the "mystery of god" was the non-answer given, when the person had no clue-- and also that they really >>hated<< that you reminded them of a serious hole in their faith....

... but I kept asking anyway.

Eventually, I realized that "mystery of god" was proof that there was no god at all--

-- which, when you think about it, is no mystery either.

Nah, I think it's interesting to know what turns atheists into Christians. Oh wait, we already know.
Never happened in the entire history of the planet.

In spite of your lies to the contrary....

... meh.

Why do you lie?

Oh! Lies is all you have-- due to the FACT you have NO FACTS.

Sad.

Hopefully here as well. The Vatican is asserting authority on what it deems as "feminist" nuns, those who are upholding the law requiring businesses, including Catholic-ran ones, to provide health insurance covering birth-control methods for women. These women I can stand behind for fighting for liberty 100%. I never throw the baby out with the bathwater, and will always side with those who are fighting for their own rights and esp. for the rights of others against a fanatical, tyranny of religious freaks who only care about hiding their homosexual, pedophilic tendencies behind Vatican doors. I was thinking nuking the dang Vatican would solve a helluva lot of problems.
I would agree here-- support those who oppose the draconian practice, even if they do so from within the system.

Alas, if you were to nuke Vatican City, you'd unfortunately kill too many innocent victims-- the children.

Not to mention, you'd contaminate billions of Euros worth of valuable gold....

... much better to simply lay siege to the place, offering them limited amnesty, in exchange for their gold.

See how fast the billions are emptied, to save the miserable lives of those fanatical priests...

... after all the ones willing to sell their church in exchange for their lives?

The ones who are left are the die-hard fanatics. Let them have it-- but don't let them leave their "refuge". See how long they last living on communion wafers and wine....

... meh.

Yeah. My Mom's 90 now and recently injured her back. A very painful injury. She was always a devout Baptist and now can't understand why her God won't help her ... it must be horrible and very confusing. I think it's causing her to lose faith which must make dying more frightening to someone who thought they had it all figured out. Ain't religion grand?
I'm so sorry you mom has to suffer from that injury-- I always lament anyone who's needlessly suffering.

It's also a shame that religion is so frequently proven 100% false until after a person's life is wasted in it's cause.

*sigh*

Well.

The time came and went-- and to nobody's surprise, the idiots who are True Believers™ were... wrong.

Again.

You'd think that they'd learn from their constantly being wrong all the time...

.... LOL!

Daily Horoscope for May 26

Cancer

You're in the mood to enjoy yourself today, so anything resembling hard work will come a long way down your list of priorities. However, other people may not share your views and will wonder why you aren't busily doing your bit. Try not to fall foul of a boss or superior because you aren't working hard enough. Far better to get the work out of the way and then have fun, because then you can enjoy yourself with a clear conscience.
