It's because they don't have this thing in their brain that other people have. It's called "logic".
It's weird, right? Like no matter how much evidence comes up against their religion and how many impossibilities and contradictions their holy books contain, they can't even fathom how anyone couldn't believe in god.
It's almost as if they have shut down the higher brain centers-- not unlike someone who is perpetually high or entirely intoxicated.

It's a level of brainwashing that is rather disturbing to me.

It should be disturbing! Grown men and women believing in a bronze-age storybook! I would say that I've lost faith in humanity, but that happened a long time ago for me.

There are just enough non-stupid people in the world, for me, to remain hopeful.

:D

And the numbers appear to be growing, if slowly.

God does not want anyone to spend eternity in a terrible place of judgment. That is why we keep telling unbelievers about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
It is not we cannot accept "no", it's because we want them to make it to Heaven!

There was me thinking that your god was both omniscient and omnipotent.

You say your god doesn't want people to be tortured for all eternity.

What kind of omnipotent god doesn't get what he wants?

The kind that doesn't exist.

Hi Christine

I've not been that active on Topix and the few threads I have been on were in other forums.

Things are OK thanks - retirement is getting closer and my work ethic is getting smaller.

I've always earmarked 60 as the time to give up work so that gives me three years to go.

Not a lot in the scheme of things but the temptation to jump ship sooner is there.

I'm ready for a change of scene.

If had my way, it would be Manila or Shanghai but my wife won't have that, so it's looking like Oban with holidays to the far east.

Truth be told, I quite like Oban and what you've got on your doorstep.
