'Is there really a God?' Though there are a variety of possible responses to this question, there are three traditional responses that predominate in Western society: God does not exist: atheism; we cannot know whether God exists: agnosticism; and a personal God does exist: theism.

Since the comments on this thread show great disrespect for Almighty God Jehovah's word, and his witnesses who try to help people understand God's word, you deserve no answer from me.
Why should anyone respect something that does not exist. That is nuts! But then, so are you. Sorry, but it's true!

I think your problem is that there are a lot of people in this world who claim to understand “God’s word” and know ‘God‘s will“. Why should anybody believe that you and your church understand God‘s word any better than anybody else?
You are right, millions of people are satisfied with their religions, and their teachers doctrines of Scripture, and their relationship with God. So be it, they can believe anything they want. Revelation 18:4

But, there are some people who are not content with theirs, they see the hypocricy in religion and hate this world's immorality and violence. They do not get answers to their questions about God and life, they want the true religion, they want to know the one true God. John 14:6

Jehovah's witnesses are the only true Christians today, the only people who live according to God's word, the Law of Christ.
The only people who are acceptable to God for survival of the end of this wicked world ruled by Satan. Matthew 25:33

Because Satan blinds the minds of people, everyone has to be shown the way to find the truth for yourself, your everlasting life depends on it.

I rejected the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church 40 years ago. They said the same thing you just posted "...[we] are the only true Christians today, the only people who live according to God's word, the Law of Christ. The only people who are acceptable to God for survival of the end of this wicked world ruled by Satan."

Both the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Roman Catholics have the exact same problem. You are both incredibly arrogant to think that by reading a book written 2,000 to 3,000 years ago you and your church alone understand the purpose of human existence, and everybody else who has read the book over the past 3,000 has either been mistaken or willfully disobedient to it.

Though I don’t consider myself a Christian I think Jesus was a pretty smart guy. I would like to remind you again of some of his wisdom. "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?" (Matthew 7:3) Think about it.

Also "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12) I don’t pretend to know if I am one of those people “who are acceptable to God for survival of the end of this wicked world ruled by Satan." If there is a God I’ll take my chances with the golden rule. I think all that other stuff that you “religious” people argue about is mumbo jumbo. I don’t doubt your sincerity I doubt your wisdom.

<quoted text> Actually i'm living in "The Light of the World"(Jesus Christ)....and that's the BEST place to be! You act like "reason and intelligence" is a new thing or something you(and many other non-believers) have invented or discovered. All wisdom and understanding comes from GOD! That's where true wisdom and knowledge started....(shakes head from side to side). Therefore your questions are moot; but at least you tried.....you were limited from the start.
Absolutely wrong.

My questions are valid but you're afraid to answer them. So is Martha.

I wonder why that is? You tell me.

You just possess one particular brand of snake oil and it's no better than any of the other brands that are out there.

Imagine you're sitting at home watching one of your religious channels on TV only to be interrupted by a knock on your door.

You open the door to a Hindu who starts telling you that Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva are the real trinity and that you should embrace Hinduism because it is the one true belief and all other faiths are wrong.

What do you do?

I would ask one question. Do you believe everything in the bible or just the parts you like? If you can't give a simple answer, I suggest you haul your fundie ass to another thread.

It was Tuesday. And I had asked a follow-on question to make sure I understood your response --

" http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/atheism/T... ;

"Exodus 22:18. Supposedly your god's own words. It's one of the commandments that comes after the 10 people like to talk about.

Is it moral? Do you still abide by it? "

You never answered. How about an answer?

You could ask them where a unicorn fits into the discussion too.

The Hindus look at your Johnny-come-lately religion as being one of many false belief systems. However, I'm sure their answer would be something along the lines of Jesus only fits in because of whatever grace he was allowed by the divine Lord Vishnu.

After all, the main teachings of Jesus (turn the other cheek, love thy enemies, etc) were copied from the much older Hindu texts.

You never have a response.

All I see is the same old fear continually manifesting itself in your failure to answer the questions.

I guess you get that fear from jesus.

that kind of an end to the discussion isn't because it allows you to "win" (whatever that means)

that kind of end to the discussion is because you've basically told the other person that you're so close minded that there's no point to any further discussion with you

Laplace had written a very thick compendium on the movement of the planets which Napoleon had heard about. It is reported that in one of their conversations Napoleon remarked,'M. Laplace, they tell me you have written this large book on the system of the universe, and have never even mentioned its Creator.'

Laplace answered,'Je n'avais pas besoin de cette hypothèse-là.'("I had no need of that hypothesis.")

Let's see.....that scripture is dealing with stoning a witch.....if GOD said it(and HE did)then its truth whether i "abide by it" or not.....and of course its morally right(GOD commanded it); HE is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords! HE knows more about morality than every human that existed from the beginning of time....(shakes head from side to side)...and as far as abiding by it.....there's no need.....i have come across any witches lately......
