Of course this has already been explained to him. And while he oft likes to point to the 'a-theos' as if that's a positive assertion of belief that no God exists, the *actual* term is of course a-theism, theism being belief in God. Hence it LITERALLY means LACK of belief or DIS-belief in (a) God. And again, dictionary references were provided. He ignores those in favour of those definitions which appear to slant it more in favour of atheism being a belief rather than disbelief - but it's interesting to note that a number of his sources are philosophy and theology encyclopedias, and outright religious encyclopedias. All ignoring the original Greek etymology.
What are you implying a religious person would not be honest and fair!? I am shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

HA, a youtube video with 28,000 thumbs down, and 6000 thumbs up, what does that tell ya. Why do so many christians have to lie, and project what THEY think others believe, in order to try and get their point across.

YOU, don't get to tell me what I believe. I, an atheist, do not believe in anything super natural. Your statement has now been shown to be, not true.

This is good; this is progress.

As cell phone cameras have become more common, UFO sightings have decreased. Hmmm. You don't think people claiming to have seen aliens were Making Sh*t Up, now, do you?

that was to carchar king, whom you seem to take seriously. I thought he was extremely funny, and wonder whether he is one of us non-believers trying to make a parody...read his first comment beginning this thread, and then my comment above. I think he deserves a funny on the first one, and it makes me suspicious that he may be playing.

note that the word evidence was mis-spelled on the heading.

I watch the Colbert Report, so maybe I am too aware that people can parody - over a long period of time - those they disagree with, and be quite good at it.

:)

I have no doubt that some were simply delusional. Clearly, we have such folk with each generation.

Some have delusions so severe, that we lock them away for their own safety (and others' of course).

But for many, the delusions are relatively mild; such as the Republicans who keep voting for Republicans who **never** manage to keep the promises they make while running...(abortions? Legal. Gay marriage? More-and-more legal, and gays are not being imprisoned. Women? Still vote. Contraceptives? Still legal... and creationism isn't taught as science in public school...)

*sigh*

When I was quite young, I started reading the daily horoscope in my local paper--at first, I thought it amazing that whoever wrote it, could come up with such stuff-- until after a few days, I realized that the "predictions" of each of the various 12 houses-- started to **repeat**! It was then, I realized it was 100% bullsh7t. I was rather disappointed in my paper, for printing such obvious fluff. What else might they allow to be printed that was BS?

;)

Actually, I think he is a bit retarded-- in the clinical sense of that word, not as hyperbole or sarcasm.

If you study his sentence structure, it's rarely above about grade 3 or 5, at best (unless he copy-pastes-- easy to tell, as there are few or no grammar mistakes, and the words are big too).

I almost feel sorry for the guy, except he can be so very petty and cruel.

Of course, religion enables that behavior, does it not?

Yes, but a true parody will "accidentally" allow a "slip" to shine through, highlighting the real issue and/or truth.

Cobert is quite good at that one; I'd go as far as to say he's a master at the "accidental slip-of-truth".

:)

But someone who is developmentally delayed or impaired (by what, we do not know-- religion can have this effect, if it's severe enough) is incapable of such subtleties.
