If There's No Atheists in Foxholes, What About Communist Soldiers?

If the statement about there being no atheists in foxholes were true and not some stupid truism, wouldn't the soldiers fighting for Communism also believe in God, at least when they're in combat?

Also, doesn't this imply that atheists are too immoral/good/whatever to go off to kill and be killed? Or that we're smart enough to stay home and comfort your wives and/or girlfriends while you're off to murder in the name of Jesus? Or that Jehovah is such an evil bastard that he needs fear to bring believers into his fold?

Communism is atheism? Who knew?

Other than that, the 'no atheists in foxholes' IS just a silly piece of fundie rhetoric.

Every christian who tries to escape the path of a speeding bullet with fear in his eye is an example of a "foxhole conversion" to atheism and proves they don't really believe in a heavenly paradise in the hereafter. There are a hell of a lot more of those conversions than there are of atheists to christians.

Theists and atheists in foxholes are killed at exactly the same rate, despite the prayers of the theists.

Dead theists in foxholes are proof positive of the futility of prayer. Surely, given the dire nature of their predicament, the now-deceased theists prayed more sincerely and with more urgency than they ever prayed before. They were praying to a deity whom, they believed, had promised to grant them whatever they asked for in his name.

The remains of even a single dead theist would be enough to demonstrate that the promise was imaginary and prayer futile. Over the course of history, there have been tens of millions of dead theists at the bottom of foxholes. The god they prayed to is either non-existent or a liar.
