apparently you are also pretty entrenched in your atheist religion. So much so that you are unable to comprehend what you read. Christians don't abstain from sin because we are afraid, we abstain because we love God. I know the concept is foreign to you but try and think outside your little box no matter how hard it may be.
So if you didn't believe in God you would lie, cheat, steal, rape and kill? the only reason you do not do these things is because you 'love God'? Am I getting your message correctly?

If that is the case, you are not a moral person. You are simply someone who does what an imaginary friend told you to do or not do. True morality doesn't come from following the dictates of a deity. It doesn't come from fearing a punishment. It doesn't come from the hope of reward or that you will get the attention of a deity. if *any* of these are the reason you don't rape, kill, or steal, then you are only acting moral, but are not really moral.

That is because real morality comes from within, not from outside. It is genuinely caring about others, not acting like you do for the approval of a deity. It is thinking through the consequences of your actions and how they affect others, not being dictated to by another. It is being willing to face responsibility, not because of some reward of punishment, but because that is what it means to be moral.

So, if you are not really moral, but only act moral because you 'love God', then *please* keep believing in your fairy tale. At least the rest of us won't have to deal with the fact that you are morally crippled. But could you at least leave others alone that don't believe in your myths?

angel you go around posting anti God crap in various topics. You are obsessed not only with God but with gays.

Didn't say you thought it was okay to do these things........I'm saying you have done some of these things therefore you aren't nearly as good as you think you are.
I never said it was ok to do these things.

You did actually state an assumption (I understand that it was sarcastic) that you assume since I'm a non believer that I think that these things are ok.

well thank you for the facts. if only your last sentence were not such a nasty overgeneralization, even if it did apply to the ones with whom you are arguing here.

bravo for that reply to antitheist. a very good example of how argument with someone who is rather dumb and nasty can bring out an excellent rational reply on the issues. I often lack patience to reply to idiots, and prefer conversation with the moral and intelligent types, but I read replies like yours, and appreciate the value of your comments as sort of stand-alone explanations. I cannot stand the backandforth insults, and I am pleased you do not play that game. I do not think the rightwing nuts (or Skeptic) deserve intelligent replies - but it is great to read the intelligent replies nonetheless.

I am not anti god, if one exist i would be happy to have a conversation with he/she/them. I have plenty of questions for them.
Give ONE example of anything anti-god that I have said.
Sure I have said that I have not been provided with sufficient evidence to convince me that a god or gods exist but thats hardly anti-god. If you show some good evidence i would be happy to listen.
It is religion I am speaking out against, more specifically the people that use religion as a means to justify their on sick ,carnal, ignorant, sexist, homophobic agendas.
thanks for another sensible answer to that rightwing person. It is impressive to see the patience with which some of you try to explain reasonable attitudes and opinions to the irrational types.
Even when those types will not get it, it is a good thing to have the examples out there to show how wise and rational and patient many atheists are.

didn't say you did anything "horribly sinful" as you put it. You were born a sinner just like everyone else. You can do all the "good" things you want to in life but its not enough. I'm sure you have lied before and probably a handfull of other things that most don't consider to be good. You are far, far from perfect.
born a sinner? shame on God for causing that mistake! a nicer God would have made nicer people and animals and nature in general - including weather and laws of nature. You have been getting replies from very polite atheists.
I think you are nasty and an idiot, but the replies from the polite atheists have been wonderful. Thank you for bringing out the contrast between nice and wise atheists and stupid nasty believers. Other believers are lucky that we do not assume they are all as disgusting as you are.

I have read the alleged words of Jesus.
Many-many times. I used to have the 4 gospels pretty much memorized, in fact.
One thing is clear? You are not very representative of what those stories talk about.
You **are** a hate-filled and horrible person, though.
... sad, really.
I think you got confused, and meant to criticize the same person that angleangel was criticizing. I am glad to see that you and many other atheists and rational types on here can get disgusted with antiantitheist, and be blunt about it - but there have also been some excellent replies that could stand alone to explain the rational thinking of atheists. I guess the combination of the two is best. The rightwing fanatics must be called out for their horrid beliefs and nasty comments, and the excellent reasoning of wise atheists also needs to be expressed. Too bad there are not some openminded centrists seeing such discussions.

shows how ignorant you are forgotten. God did make man perfect. It was man who rebelled against God and sinned. We screwed things up..not God. Try doing some reading before making another dumb comment.

ok let me say this one more time and listen closely. No sane person thinks killing someone is okay. Get it? I'm simply saying that although you aren't out killing or robbing someone does not mean you are some great person. We all sin which is why Christ came in the first place. We can never be good enough.

Yeah....your statement reads different...however in my life I don't have to be perfect even if I tried to be...my family and friends do not require it or choose to make me strive for it, they love me unconditionally.

Actually I would say I and most here are more moral and sinless (using your bible as a reference) than your god. I have never murdered anyone, you're god has according to your bible. At least we have values and morals and believe in love, kindness, and helping others without the arrogant need to be worshiped.

cynical you sound like the crazy lunatic you must be. Only on internet msg boards do you hear such craziness.

seeyou you aren't perfect and neither am I. Christ was the only perfect person on this earth and He died for our sins because we aren't perfect.

Never said I am perfect. Just stated a fact a better person than your god could ever be. I am of sound mind an body, as for crazy look it up you come closer to the definition.

I just do not know where all your hatred and immoral thoughts come from other than your belief system.

I never said either of us or anyone was. However, that still doesn't change the fact that morals are not a christian trait nor are morals borrowed from the christian faith.
