He really hates what I write the most-- as his "replies" to me reveal his most hateful attitude.

:)

That means my work here is quite effective.

He doesn't exist darlin, so he is no more powerful than the easter bunny to me.

I would say that you are more weak in that area simply because you give it the power of existence in your life.

depends on what you call "charity". Donating to the church is mostly for salaries, mortgages, utilities, maintenance, and administration.

Yeah, and even then sometimes they don't pay. When I was going to a local church here, as a teenager, they were building a new youth building for us. My dad ran a gas station and they had an account there for there church buses to get fuel, and my dad always had to fight for them to pay their bill. It was ridiculous because that church made a ton of money.

One of the worst mistakes you can make in life is to attach your identity to any particular religion or philosophy, such as by saying “I am a Christian” or “I am a Buddhist.” This forces your mind into a fixed perspective, robbing you of spiritual depth perception and savagely curtailing your ability to perceive reality accurately. If that sounds like a good idea to you, you’ll probably want to gouge out one of your eyeballs too. Surely you’ll be better off with a single, fixed perspective instead of having to consider two separate image streams… unless of course you’ve become attached to stereo vision.

Yep.

And with the **majority** of Genuine Christian™ "charities"?

Less than 10 cents on the dollar get to anything useful-- the rest?

Used up in bloated salaries--usually to the TV talking-heads, but also to the head of the "charity", into expensive advertising, into "premiums" kickbacks for large donors, etc.

Once again, you show the depths of your hate and depravity.

Sickening.

I was never so direct as that, not having real access to anyone so lofty as a priest/preacher.
But I did have access to "teachers", and as a child would often ask innocent questions that always made them embarrassed for some reason.
I now know, they were embarrassed because they had no reasonable or thoughtful answer.
A classic tale of the Emperor's New Clothes...
... when I first came to Topix? I still had strong sympathy for some more milder forms of theism.
To quote Douglass Adams? "mostly harmless"
I'm now not so sure that's the case... after 8 years of listening to the **consequences** of brainwashing people into faith?
I think that it's **all** harmless to a greater or lessor degree.
**that** is one of the lessons these True Believers™ have driven home all too well.
I guess I was fortunate then. Our priest back the really was a pretty nice guy. He always had time for anyone. I could kind of tell that when he was trying to answer a question that he really striving to sound believable... that didn't change the fact that it didn't make sense to me. He ended up leaving the church in the late 70's because he fell in love and wanted to get married.

And?
The weekly (or more frequent) repetition of the lies is a **requirement** to keep reinforcing the Fairy Tale.
Without that constant brainwashing? Faith soon withers, for lack of facts to support it.
Exactly. Still, to this day, I could probably recite the majority of a standard catholic mass! LOL!

Yeah... and I used to teach Sunday School, back in the day.

I had grown up hearing the bible stories as a child, so as a SS teacher, I would glance at the lesson and think, "Oh,**that** story" and I would tell the story from memory.

The kids (I always taught the younger kids--as few adults would put up with their lively approach to life) always seemed to enjoy my bible stories better than the "official" book-ones.

Of course, I'd liven it up with dramatics, and frequently drew simple cartoons on a portable chalkboard as I spoke. I would sit on the floor, bringing everyone to the same eyelevel.

And I **never** refused a child's questions--even if I had to sometimes say, "I do not know".

... those were fun times, I suppose, looking back.

About the only thing I miss about not being in church. But that was 20+ years ago-- I was much younger.
