"Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) recently conducted a study on the effects of fatherlessness on children, and the results are startling: The absence of a father during critical growth periods leads to impaired social and behavioral abilities in adults and even causes a misshapen prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for planning complex cognitive behavior, personality expression, decision-making and moderating social behavior." How convent, I wonder if McGill let his believes be lead by the evidence or let his faith led the evidence?

An excellent question.

We **know** that these christians freely admit that their faith is more important to them, than **anything**.

Including actual reality, it seems.

I would love to see from the people who voted our posts spam, clueless and nuts why they did so. If you have a problem you can post AND vote, you would be a lot braver and maybe just maybe someone might change their mind! You know not just have an meaningless argument, but actually achieve something. You are not doing anyone a favor.

So sad the Creationists have turned to judge icon spamming the Atheism forum, because they're bitter at having no evidence of god.

It's worse than that, Jim: they have no arguments, either.

British House of Lords Votes Against Banning Annoying Behavior

The British House of Lords, the U.K. Parliament’s upper unelected chamber,

has voted in favor of amending a clause in a bill that as written would allow anyone in England and Wales engaging in or threatening to engage in

"conduct capable of causing nuisance or annoyance to any person" to face an injunction.

According to the BBC, the Home Office “has said the new injunctions would never be imposed in an unreasonable way.”

A move toward protecting freedom of speech which some people seem to oppose?:-)

I may have something interesting to say on the vote spam, is anyone else having trouble opening the judge it box? Because I have tried for three days to up vote Thinking's first post on this story and I can't open the judge it box and I can't open the judge it box on anyone elses post either.

I have found it strange that we haven't be combating this spam, and I find strange that the only person with only positive votes is Lnc and everyone else has only negative votes. I don't take what I am about to suggest lightly but if no one here can open the judge it box, then has topix been hacked? I'm not blaming Lnc (as I know you will say considering how you think Thinking is a puppet account), Lnc could be just the unknowing and hopefully the appetitive benefactor of the hacker. If everyone else can open the judge it box then it's something at my end, if you guys can't everyone on this site has a problem...

It seems to be a bot or a script. As far as I can tell, it both down votes all posts by certain posters and blocks downvoting of other posters. If you get the judge it box to open, and downvote something by a godbot, the downvotes simply never register.

What's really pathetic is that these sad little people see some kind of victory in seeing upvotes for their posts, even knowing it is just a bot, and think we are bothered by their downvote bot.

fyi I opened up another browser and was able to add a racy and a touching (I chose those irrelevant icons instead of voting myself up or down because that is what liars - but I appreciated your thought so I tested it out)

I only post on Topix as "Thinking" whereas lincoln changes his name all the time.

I don't see either of those icons next to any of your posts. Someone is 'disappearing' icons they don't agree with. I suppose we should be relieved that their energies are channeled into something that harmless.

The original post is somewhat dishonest. It starts off describing findings of neurological changes and corresponding behavioral changes based on a McGill University study. Then, it segues into a completely separate conclusion about fatherlessness leading to godlessness which is posited by a christian author who is not connected in any way with McGill University. Essentially, the author is trying to tie the two together in the mind of readers, to co-opt the credibility of the McGill University researchers to bolster the work of the quack. Who, not coincidentally has a book out, which book the author is some sort of publicist for.

Is there anything theists won't lie about to push their mythology?
