I read your response and I just wanted to let you knmow that I understand your frustration. To sensible and intelligent people like you, me and all the other non muslims, its quite straight forward.
Just because you are not a muslim, it does not mean you are Christian. Just because you live in the west, it does not mean you are a Christian. Like I said, WE can understand that. But these are islamics you are trying to get through to. Muslims, the people of allah and muhammed. You know....doom brained donkey breeders, camel jockey's, sand chimps and goat shaggers. To THEM, being western means being Christain. They are unable to grasp the concept of living without a faith. Or more appropriately, living a good, decent, productive and honourable life without a faith. They are like animals by nature and the sharia was clearly developed to keep them in line - governing by fear.
Take that away....its like when the allied troops removed sadaam hussain. They all went berserk. Dont expect too much from them. They simply cant help the way they are. A bit like Frankensteins monster.

I think it more true to say that the societies influenced Christianity. Different cultures and societies have developed and embued religions with the mores of society.
