High Schooler Protests 'Slut-Shaming' Abstinence Assembly

Apr 17, 2013 Full story: thinkprogress.org 6

A West Virginia high school student is filing an injunction against her principal, who she claims is threatening to punish her for speaking out against a factually inaccurate abstinence assembly at her school.

... Campbell refused to attend the assembly, which was funded by a conservative religious organization called “Believe in West Virginia” and advertised with fliers that proclaimed “God’s plan for sexual purity.” Instead, she filed a complaint with the ACLU and began to speak out about her objections to this type of school-sponsored event. Campbell called Stenzel’s presentation “slut shaming” and said that it made many students uncomfortable. Full Story

Good for her. Ms. Campbell is already more educated than the school "principal".

This clearly violated the separation of cult and state. Ms. Campbell is right to fight it, to stop the harassment, bullying and insulting of students who don't want to be lied to and don't want to be threatened for not swallowing the lies.

Quote:.."Our nurse wasn’t allowed to talk about where you can get birth control for free in the city of Charleston.”
Campbell’s complaints about her high school reflect a problematic trend across the country. There are serious consequences when figures like Stenzel repeatedly tell young Americans that contraception isn’t safe..
Unquote.
Religious nuts in the USA are diabolical and the Principal (based on that article) should be dismissed for ignorance and incompetence.

What gives me hope is that young USAmericans seem to reject this kind of insanity. Young USAmericans sometimes seem to be raising and educating their parents and teachers instead of the other way around!

... but life after high school is so much better if it doesn't include infant care right from the get-go.

Sad to be poor in West Virginia.
High school girls, pregnant are vilified.
The fetus is worshiped until it is born.
Then tea party republicans called the child a welfare case.
Atheist Libertarian friends of Ayn Rand included.
The Democratic Party is the party of Atheists, Agnostics, Christians, Jews, Gays, Black and Latinos

Voted for President Obama and would support any girl from vilification as illustrated above.
