Aurora Shootings Result Of 'Ongoing Attacks On Judeo-Christian Beliefs'

Jul 21, 2012 | Posted by: Hedonist | Full story: www.huffingtonpost.com

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Friday that the shootings that took place in an Aurora, Colo. movie theater hours earlier were a result of "ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs" and questioned why nobody else in the theater had a gun to take down the shooter.

Although I support gun rights, it is a shame that people are so easily frightend. Once again it is by the neo-cons and thier "Obama is coming to take your guns" mantra. You would think they would have learned. Remember just after his election, gun and ammo sales were booming.

And, while I support Obama for a second term, his recent comments don't make much sense to me. Few seem to grasp that this horror is an anomaly, not a trend. We are not about to see a series of mass murders by middle class PhD candidates. We might see as many as one or two crimes with some similarities in scale and type of perpetrator, before the century is out, but even that would surprise me. Does anyone really expect to be attacked by a crazed honors student this year?

There are countries where people have to endure the same security procedures to enter churches, theaters, and shopping malls that we do in order to get onto a commercial airliner. I would not want to live in any of them. Would you?

I stopped reading at "support Obama for a second term".

How about the fact that he tried to make the tragedy about himself? Talked about his own daughters going to movies - it could have been them. Did the same thing with the Trayvon Martin case - "if I had a son, it would look like Trayvon".

His daughters would have secret service protection. Everything is not about him. It's a sign of a narcissist.

Obviously you don't understand a display of empathy.

That's a sign of a godbot.

Empathy my ass. Theres too many people looking for an easy way to do nothing. Like oh no dont shoot at the gunman it could make things worse! How the f--k could it get worse? What bullshit. If ANYONE had nailed his crazy ass with a full load 357, 40S&W, 44 or 45 the trauma of the blow would have done enough damage to get closer for a head shot or time for somebody to tackle the punk. You got a nut blasting and still have some hoplophobics saying not to shoot the bas-tard. I upon obtaining a clear sight picture, pressed the 1911 and sent a 230 gr truncated in for landing and sent him to meet his maker and probably be put in jail for it. Id rest easy!

Big talk from someone who wasn't there.
What could have gone worse?? Imagine this moron.... Mutiple people in a dark theater blazing away while others are in a panic and running around. You need to learn something about body armour, and firearms before you make an ass of yourself in a public forum. You're posting to someone who has taken a shot while wearing body armor, and let me tell you spanky, you don't know shit. Grow up and learn to be responsible. Idiot cowboys like you shouldn't be allowed to own a gun.

Here is a video for you to watch Rambo.

Guess how many times these guys were hit before the correct shot stopped them?

When idiots like you post about head shots and "the trauma of the blow would have done enough damage to get closer for a head shot or time for somebody to tackle the punk.", I know you live in some fantasy land.

I stand corrected. Everything I'd read about body armor indicated that a direct hit from a large caliber round would put the subject off balance for a few moments. this video shows that that is clearly not the case. Live (hopefully) and learn.

There was once a time when it would have. Quick story.... After seeing that video, I volunteered to take a shot just to see how bad it was, and if it would knock me down( I actually did it twice). Surprisingly, it didn't. It stings, but today's body armor will let you continue walking etc... without delay. Plus, when you have all that adrenelin(sic) pumping, I am sure it has even less effect. I am really disappointed by all this talk about how someone should have started firing back at this guy in a dark theater with all that panic ensuing. To many movies.

James Holmes was sent to protect the unborn from the morally corrupt in the American Holocaust.

YHVH suspends mercy in response to god (government of deceivers) suspension of inalienable rights (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) in the American Holocaust (morally corrupt - terminal injustice - economic oppression - murderbyproxy - population control - death fix it >deficit<).

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Gohmert has said so many breathtakingly stupid things that I have begun to suspect that he is a performance artist in the Stephen Colbert vein, and he is just messing with republicans in general and the tea party in particular to see how outrageously dumb he can get before anyone says anything. Unfortunately for him, I think he's found a bottomless pit of stupid.

From a tactical point of view, might not a midsection shot or two have knocked him off balance long enough to allow someone to tackle and disarm him? Risky, of course, and it could only be done from one of the front rows without the risk of hitting a bystander, but better than allowing him to keep shooting at everyone.
Possible, but doubtful and very risky. Ballistic vests prevent bullets from penetrating (or at least some bullets), but your body will still absorb the impact, which, depending on the load fired, may feel like a right to the body from Mike Tyson. But, aiming carefully enough to avoid hitting bystanders, or hitting a hard surface that creates unpredictable ricochets in the midst of that much chaos, and after having been dosed with tear gas strikes me as a long shot (no pun intended). Plus standing there pointing a gun while aiming would make you a target. Hitting stationary targets at the range is one thing, hitting moving targets that fire back is quite another. As Bruce Lee famously said, "boards don't hit back".

Add 5-6 people from multiple locations firing at him...or possibly who they THOUGHT...the shooter was, and the death toll/injured might likely have doubled.
