I agree it's more accurate to say the Daily Mail supported fascism, which is why I posted fascism instead in my last missive.

The biggest investor in union busting Hitler was Wall Street.

In the inter-war years there were a number of British enthusiasts for fascism in the UK, not just the Daily Mail. This support ended at the end of 1934 following violence at a british union of fascists rally. So the Mail's support was only really for the early 1930s.

lol. Its not my preferred paper, but my wife likes it. It says a lot of what people think about the state of britain, the benefits culture, immigrants etc. and has a lot of women-centric articles. Whether this is a bad thing? Its good to have a free press and I like to have a variety of views, not just the state and tax payer funded BBC.

I love BBC Radio 4. It's just a shame Radio 4 is appended to populist pap like Strictly.

I pay six times the license fee for Sky+ HD.

In the 90s, I saw an factoid that stated £400 of the price of a new SAAB was advertising costs - primarily ITV adverts.

Interesting FYI
Ancestors of secularist campaigner Richard Dawkins made their fortune from the slave trade, it has been revealed.
The outspoken atheist, who once branded the Catholic Church 'evil', is the direct descendent of Henry Dawkins who owned 1,013 slaves in Jamaica until he died in 1744.
His 400-acre family estate, Over Norton Park near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, is believed to have been bought with money made through slave ownership hundreds of years ago.
Another ancestor was a member of the clergy while two were MPs who campaigned against the abolition of the slave trade.
Slavery was eventually abolished with the help of evangelical Christian, William Wilberforce - a deeply religious English member of parliament and social reformer.
But Professor Dawkins, author of The Selfish Game, told The Sunday Telegraph that linking him with the slave trade was a 'smear tactic'.
He said:'I condemn slavery with the utmost vehemence, but the fact that my remote ancestors may have been involved in it is nothing to do with me.'
The family's link with slavery began when William Dawkins travelled to Jamaica where he was given 1,775 acres of land on the island between 1669 and 1682.
His son Richard died in 1701 leaving behind £6,659 and 143 'young and old' slaves worth £2,784.

And in 1744, the theory of evolutuion had not been established, which is what Dawkins is well known for today. That's the difference between the reasonable, logical mind and the religious mind. A 270 year old ancestor, does not shape who we are today, where the religious still cling to 2000 year old stories to guide them to ignorance.

Is Dawkins speaking in or out of his field when he does theology?

There is nowhere the scientific method can not be applied.

He doesn't debate theology, he debates the rediculous claims of creationism/ID vs evolution. He wrote a book on religion. You can trust that he has studied all religion more than most theists.

The scientific method is my favourite because it strives for the correct answer.

The religious method strives for justification, not truth.
