i'm not sure how artificial insemination or gay marriage have anything to do with god. better to attack religion than spiritual ones, especially when dealing with day to day issues that are human rather than divine invention.

They might as well because there is a God and I am going to prove beyond a reasonable doubt He exist!!!. First, do you know the Third commandment?, where it says that God will not hold you guiltless if you take His name in vain. Let me tell you a true story on how God exist!. When I was a Teenager, I would kinda blame God for something that went wrong, then I would shout out to God to perform oral sex on me, so to speak. When I turned 20, I gradually got out of this, then stopped my "shouting"!. Then 2 years later, on a rainy Spring day, I asked God for a wife, just a simple one mind you. I did not ask God for riches or fame, just a wife in whom I would have been so dearly satisfied!!!.!!!. 5 Months later, God gave me a rotten wh**e, He gave me a real bad woman!!!. So let this be a lesson to all you folks, including you Atheists!, GOD WILL LITERALLY RAPE YOU IF YOU TAKE HIS ROTTEN, STINKING, trouble-MAKING NAME IN VAIN!!!. Like He did me. Boy I learnt my lesson fooling with His stinking name!!!. God is unforgivable. I can say He is. Now I can forgive someone who tells me to perform oral sex on them!. I can forgive, like this one boy in High school, Jessee was His name. I forgave Him fine and dandy. I forgave Him and that rotten Scumbag in Heaven knows it!!!. I can forgive but God caint, so that makes me better and stronger then Him!!!. Anyway, God gives wife's to men that kills, abuses, bosses around and makes them do deviant sexual acts for them. God will give wife's to people like that, He won't give a wife to someone that will take care of them!. Of course I didn't let old God get a way with raping me and putting me through the mill, NO SIR!!!. I PUT IT TO HIM NOW!!!
If I ever have the misfortune to be in Kentucky please remind me to only use bottled water. The local water is obviously contaminated with brain-eating amoeba. This is at least the third thread where I've encountered this deracinated screed.

Religion = superstition
Theology = mythology
Religionists are fearful because their game is up. Fear seems to be a big part of being religious as they are frightened of being wrong.

Common-sense prevails in the UK - eventually....

Looks like atheists want to revive religious wars.

But why?

Corrected it for you Rio.
Try to concentrate, mate. Religion is nothing but trouble - Creationism/ID; sectarianism; religious courts; Zionism; Islamism.. you just ignore it all.

Ask a religious person to count how many gods they have evidence for, and you'll realise they all stop at 0.

You are not very much in favour of peaceful cohabitation between people of different creeds and beliefs, are you?

For you it's always war, war, war, and you like to maintain that mentality.

To me, atheists look just as intolerant and aggressive as some religious fundamentalists.

At least, I can accept anything and have no prejudice about people's beliefs or lack of.

From my point of view you do not. Intolerance appears to me to be your game. No matter how outrageous, religionists are they must always be right and to contradict anything they say or do is apparently wrong - according to you it seems.

Promoting "peaceful cohabitation between people of different creeds and beliefs" is exactly what I see myself doing. I think the three main causes of human conflict are nationalism, ideology and religion. Try having a war without them. Religion is harmful and the easiest to dispose of.

I point-out (on the Atheism Thread) the problems with religion and the whole concept of 'having beliefs'. What isn't peaceful and tolerant about that or the way I go about it? I confront the things I object to such as Creationism/ID; Zionism; segregation of children according to parents religion; child genital mutilation; etc, etc.

What have I written that suggests that? If you level such an outrageous and insulting accusation at me perhaps you would care to try to justify it?

I disagree. You won't accept any point any non-believer here makes. For instance, why is it okay for religionists to assert there's a god and deny it is superstition, but not okay for me to reject that?

I'm not interested in religion/atheism. I think that the harm religion does needs to be confronted. Atheism simply means someone who doesn't believe in god(s). There is no harm in pointing out superstition where it occurs.

(By the way, I was just trying to make a point by altering that post of yours. No offence intended).

Atheism is the rejection of deity. It's an affirmation that there is no god.

I certainly never made such claim although I don't follow a religion.

Atheists are intolerant of liars with no evidence. Some people take offense at this fact, but it is their problem, not the problem of atheists.

Atheism is a simple disbelief in religious liars. And agnostic liars like yourself as well.

I think Rio means well and he actually tries to be thoughtful, unlike some on Topix. I feel he is being hypocritical though. He can insult me, but not justify his accusations.

He also claims to be tolerant, but doesn't hesitate to denigrate with the best of us a person with whom he disagrees.

He professes not to be religious. He is representative of an interesting phenomenon - the attitude seems to be "of course I'm not religious myself, but.." and then to defend every religious viewpoint while insisting any criticism of religion is some sort of incitement to violence (as if religion isn't divisive and violent enough).

He wants to 'give the Falkland Is; NI; and Gibraltar away', as if it is in UKGov's power to do that and those people have no rights to representation, nor even self-determination.

And having incited all that potential for violence and conflict, he wants to see himself as promoting peaceful policies that would make the UK more like Switzerland or Sweden.

I actually agree with Rio on many points,(e.g. EU membership) but he didn't justify any of his attacks on me,(personal or otherwise) and the policies as he advocates them would lead to more violence than the world could handle.

Religion = superstition
(I am entitled state this - Rio, if you can tolerate reading it).
