Pat Robertson suggests woman's atheism was caused by rape or abuse

Mar 25, 2014 Full story: The Kansas City Star 56

Well, this is certainly a theory we hadn’t considered. Pat Robertson speculated on his show Monday that an atheist woman didn’t believe in God because she had been abused by her father or raped.

You are right. Paul was called out on his bullshyt when he said he was devoted to Ayn Rand when Ayn was an atheist who preached complete selfishness as something ideal. Ryan later denied saying that.
The reality is that conservatives are false Christians, cafeteria ones, who only listen to the bible when they cause it to support their bigotry.
Well-- since the bible pretty much contradicts itself all over the place?

Are not **all** modern christians, guilty of picking and choosing?

Indeed-- they **all** are-- without a single exception.

Ryan being an acolyte of Ayn Rand makes much more sense, and is a much more consistent philosophy, than Ryan as a "christian" who espouses an agenda that is precisely the opposite of the teachings of his religion.
It is also a reminder that atheists share nothing more than a lack of belief in god. Atheism is compatible with any economic theory or political ideology, except obviously, theocracy.
Yep, and yep.

Exactly. Atheism doesn't require one to believe in anything, yet the Christians live to pretend that we are all communist. It is their only way to counter when we point out the murderous deeds of their tyrant.
Ironically? The jesus they claim to follow? Was, in fact, a communist-- he **did** advocate to sell everything you own, give that to the church, and then go live *in* the church as a commune.

These poor people are such hypocrites.

Shhh! Don't tell that to the Christians.
Don't tell them that the early xtians were quite communist either.
Indeed they were.

Acts, 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

In other words the early christians were communists. Funny how the "christians" of today repudiate their roots, and the core beliefs of their Jesus.

One might well conclude that the average "christian" has read less of the bible than the average atheist.

You are absolutely correct.
In fact?**ANY** form of capitalism (which is greed-based), is 100% against what the Traditional bible claims Jesus said.
Jesus pretty much said to give away **all** possessions apart from one set of clothes, give **all** your money to the church, and go and live *in* the church as a commune.
The **only** time Jesus interacted with capitalists? He beat them and ran them out of their place of business...(those capitalistic temple money changers)
Jesus chased the money changers out of the temple. His believers need to chase the money changers out from between their temples.

Well...yes--- if they actually **read** the damn bible?

They would be atheists, wouldn't they?

LOL!

Too true. But some are more blatantly guilty than others.

Too bad most of them read their bibles with selective vision that only allows them to see what their pastor wants them to see.

I remember a story of how one couple tried to shield their possessions from the Commune and God killed them(according to the bible) I guess God evolved tolerating and promoting human greed in the OT to trying to encourage Communism in the NT.

Exactly as sheep would do.

They *are* aptly named: sheeple.

And without a single original thought in their tiny sheeplike brain.

Yep, again.

Asimov (among other astute thinkers) observed that **reading** the bible was really hard on one's faith-- actually *reading* the whole nasty thing tends to destroy any faith in it.

The Clergy Project is a lovely example of that, too.

It's no wonder that they believe that reason and logic is the enemy of faith
