Ken Ham is scamming the US tax payer in much the same way as the Westboro baptist church.

Yep...in the name of charity the churches get complete immunity from taxes and are doing nothing except operating a typical small business....some not so small. People drop by for an hour and a half a week, drop off their tithes and gifts then go home feeling good about themselves. The money is spent for the pastor's home, salary and transportation expenses, buildings and building expansion, stained glass, fancy steeples, oak or mahogany pews, expensive musical instruments and sound systems, security systems, religious retreats, youth programs, a little beak wetting for the main offices of the denomination or convention, missionary programs, etc. Like every other social or charity funds collector they take care of their own interests before the poor get a dime.

Ham brings up recollections of Jimmy Swaggerty, Oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell and the Bakkars. Any of them would rip off their mothers if the mother wasn't paying attention.

The original church of Rome is setting over there with the Vatican controlling hundreds of billions of dollars worth of gold, silver and fine art while nearly a billion humans, mostly children are starving or suffering from malnutrition.

I see the Vatican took another drubbing in the UN today for hiding sex abuse cases.
When religions ask for tolerance, they really mean don't poke your nose into systematic child grooming.
<quoted text>
Exactly!

I'm an old man but back in the 40's I remember the church had a saying..."Give Me A Child Till They're Ten And I'll Give You A Catholic For A Lifetime."

Without the brainwashing by each generation to the next that crap would be deader than roadkill.

If you kept children away from indoctrination until they were sixteen, the organised religions would collapse in two generations. There would probably be a big transference to "spirituality", whatever that means, but holding such harmless beliefs would be just fine by me.
<quoted text>
People have always managed to get some comfort from their imagination. That's the basic problem with all religions in the world......the people who dreamed up all that malarkey were trying to learn to cope with a developing imagination and very little knowledge....a bad combination.
