Hey Hiding.

Can I borrow your deity Tuesday and Thursday? I will reimburse you for the deity's fee, of course.

hahahaha!

I'm afraid it's tied to its shrine. I suppose we could fly the shrine out to you, but what would happen to the kamisama when it leaves the Isle of Heaven?!?

Oh no! I broke the law! They're going to jail me for referring to Japan by its Proper Name!

Theism is a category for all people who believe in one or more deities. Christianity is a theistic philosophy, but then so is Islam, Hinduism, Catholicism, etc.
And, BTW, atheism would be a category for everybody who is not in the category of theism -- "a-theism" = "not theism". Again, with multiple philosophies such as Buddhism, Jainism, Humanism, etc.
That sounds like what I was sensing, but this computer is slow and researching everything takes forever. Now this thing won't even let me log onto AKO- it was fine two days ago. Time to "restore".

There ya go again, lumping all religons into one pot. If athiests were thought of the same way, you're no better than thieves, murderers and rapists, with some perverts and necrophilia thrown in. you propably haven't noticed, but I haven't gone that route, nor have I preached or pontificated.

To someone that doesn't believe in any gods, religion is religion. Oh, I admit that there is some differences between different sects, but really, most religions have atrocities attributted to them. These people shot a young woman because their religion (Or at least the way they interpret their religion)says so. Your comment about viewing all atheists as "being no better than thieves, murderers and rapists, with some perverts and necrophilia thrown in" is false, unless you can give an example of an atheist doing those things in the name of atheism....Let me save you the trouble.... You can't. In other words, you are comparing apples to oranges.

<quoted text>Are you telling me that you don't use the two terms interchangably? If not, what is the difference between the two for you? There ARE religons that have animals playing some part in them B'nai B'rith comes to mind (ala Seales and Croft and my adviser in college), Hindu, and so on.
That is exactly what I am telling you. In some cases, I could, In fairness(which I am just the shinning beacon of), I have seen many theist posters on Topix bring up animal sex. In reality, the chances are that they ARE chritians, but, since I don't always know that for sure, I used the term theist instead.

Doubtful, they're more likely just trying to stir the pot. Surely you aren't falling for that. Some people are here only because their lives have nothing in them but staring at the walls and listening to conversations. Sad when you think about the community activities or charitable causes out there. I know some people who garden like mad- it gets them out of the house, off their duffs and gives them some feeling of accomplishment. Kindly notice I didn't harp about going to church, these same people would be better served by having examples of a fuller life rather than being preached (in my youth, I thought of it as "hollering") at.

I will try to be as polite as I can here.... That post contained waaay too much thought for topix.
I don't know why folks post here. I have my reasons, and I try not to spend too much time here. There are lots of better things to do, but it is fun now and then.

True. In between missions, I make rustic furniture. It's extremely rewarding and I can't keep anything I make, but you've gotta be able to step away and clear you head (and your nose of sawdust). I check this and facebook during commercials in the evening, like now. Used to post photos of my work as my avatar, but that didn't make a lot of sense. When I can, I go to my Dad's and help him farm, visiting family and friends, coyote hunt, etc. It's good to stay active, both physically and mentally.

“There are a lot of Americans, I think they’re a minority, but they are very vocal, who are really aching for an Ayatollah. I think they would love to have a department of religion. . . . But this country was founded by people who were really escaping domination of a governmental religion and who breathed freely here with gratitude that they didn’t have to obey a church government.”— Arthur Miller, “The Atheism Tapes,” by Jonathan Miller, BBC4, 2004

But you do lie. Somehow, you manage to tell us that you aren't going that way, while you are going that way. Besides tacking all kind of idiot shit to the simple lack of theism, you have went way past possible with the criminal thing.

Now you can't try taking the religitard, out of the criminal. That is who they are, and who they will stay. And you can't put the atheist in criminal boots either, it just don't work. History should have shown you that, but you didn't even check did you?

Prisons, jails, and criminal institutions keep a list, and when an atheist shows on the list, the world starts buzzing. Because ....... it's that rare. The list is jam packed theism.

Christianity's crimes easily equal those of Islam, anyday. Plus there is the single god, you lot share. He seems to fit any and every godbot who tries him on

You could have spared us this post, as none of it is true. I understand you would LIKE it to be true, but it's not. Let's see "the list". Let's compare todays crimes of Christianity against Islam's. C'mon. Lessee, coupla dozen pedophiles in the Catholic church, and...

God commands his Islamic followers and his Christian followers in different ways perhaps take it up with him. After all you are worshipping the same God.

None of the things you mentioned are done because of some religious philosophy, or lack thereof. You will find these types of people across the board, so there is no correlation and you're just blowing smoke.

However, the Abrahamic religions have proven that they will commit all kinds of atrocities in the name of their various sects/cults. The only reason most Abrahamic religions don't still burn people at the stake is because it's against our modern *secular* laws. But I have absolutely no doubt that there are any number of Christians who would gladly carry out their particular version of "god's vengeance" if they thought they could get away with it.
