I've blogged a bunch of these Gallup polls over the years and my demographic has always been at the bottom of the barrel preference-wise. But things are improving: In 2007, just 45 percent said they'd vote for an atheist, then last year it crept up to 49 percent .

This indicates that with education, more and more Americans are leaving their silly myths behind!!

Really? It only talks of USAmerican's willingness to vote for an atheist. It doesn't suggest there is much less superstition over there.
A great improvement, perhaps. Appalling.
And a majority of republicans,(going solely by these poll numbers) are STILL prejudiced against atheists.
I think Britain ine the 1960s was far less superstitious than the USA is today. It's like the USA is stuck in some crazy time-warp.
