Paul talks about the qualifications for a bishop in is first letter to Timothy: he must be "blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous." In contrast, Gene Robinson is homosexual, divorced and an (at least a former) alcoholic.

More simply, he has been a terrible bishop for New Hampshire. Membership has dropped 14% in his short tenure despite his pledge that "countless people" would replace those that are leaving.

A bishop promises to protect the unity of the church in his ordination vows. In contrast, Mr Robinson has called on his followers to "boldy[sic] risk the institution, itself" to advance the cause of homosexuality.

He gallivants around the world proclaiming his victimness where in fact he was a third rate priest and now a worse bishop while his diocese implodes.
