Gagged & excluded again: Canterbury denies New Hampshire bishop permission to preach or preside
Editor’s note: Rowan Williams stands silently by while bishops from outside the US and Canada barge into our churches to preach and preside. Yet he denies Bishop Gene a place in any English Anglican church. Seems a bit hypocritical to me . . .
New Hampshire Bishop Gene Robinson has been told by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams not to preach or preside at a eucharist while he is in England, according to reports.
Robinson, the first openly gay priest to be elected bishop in the Anglican Communion, is visiting the U.K. to promote his new book, "In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God." more

I would expect better from the Church of England. This has to be the most laid back Christian church in the world and yet they are acting more and more hypocritical and following the prejudice paths of other Christian sects. I've had the great good pleasure to meet Bishop Robinson and he is a gentle person who does not deserve the ire of his church leadership or other bishops of the congregation. I applaud his strength and hope that his church grows a backbone to stand behind him and support him as a full member of the Anglican Communion. Another case of leaders caving in to hateful people. Who runs the COE, Rowan Williams or his underlings??

TEC must stay the course, batten down the hatches, reef the sails, set sea anchor and begin the long passage through a huge storm of criticism that threatens in a following sea to overrun the Church. What position does the Archbishop of Canterbury hold respective to the ECUSA?

The Right Reverend Rowan Williams is the head of the COE and since the Anglican communion is the branch of the COE outside Britian I believe he would be the head of the Anglican Communion as well. I believe he is to the COE and Anglicans what the Pope is to the Catholics. The hierarchy of the COE and AC is not something I've committed to memory so please correct me if I'm wrong.

While it may be w/in Rev. Williams discretion to enjoin Bp. Robinson from preaching or prsiding over services whilst in England, why would he do do? Did his (Robinson's) ordination to the Bishopry not have to be "approved" by Williams, at least nominally? I mean, it's a little late to complain about his status; he's already a Bishop, right?
