There's a reason why Amish people are adviced and forbidden from using computers. They don't want to turn into retards like the majority of you anti-amish stereotyping racists that have commented on this topic.

"Blacksheep of Mo", your comment lacks erudition, and couldn't be further from the truth.

It doesn't seem that other commentators noticed this comment in Brainiac's post. Obviously, the jerk came on to some of the young women in what he thought was a flirtatious way....but just as obviously, the young women and their relatives didn't think so. He also felt threatened by the Amish men, who were simply standing by, watching his interactions, and letting the ladies more than ably deal with him....so he certainly didn't know they are pacifists and just as certainly thought that his behavior might have earned him more than dirty looks from fathers and brothers coming from non-amish backgrounds. This man is ignorant, uncouth and if I may generalize as easily as he does, probably has used prejudice against his ethnic background to explain any unpleasantness his idiot behavior has brought down upon him in the past. Also, considering how important prejudice against his ethnicity appears to be to him...again, he doesn't know that the amish consider blacks, asians, jews, russians...you name it.....all of us non-amish...to be "ENGLISH". What a hoot!
As a black kid I lived around the Amish in rural PA. Being in a band was the trend among my peers. At that time technology was forbidden among the Amish. Somehow the Amish kids in our area learned to love Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix (and marijuana). They would climb the line poles on the state and county roads, run lines to their barns where light bulbs would be hanging all over the place. We'd bring our amps and equipment at night and jam till it was time for them to go to school or work. They were only permitted an 8th grade education back then. Long story short, some damn good musicians lived in those white houses with blue sills, and they grew some of the best mushrooms and weed I've ever had. However, the girls (even though they smoked with us and enjoyed the music), nookie wasn't part of the equation. I also learned that interracial marriage/sexual relationships between Blacks and themselves were also not a part of their formula. So in that perspective, they don't mind partying however, race is crucial in their marital policies. However, I didn't detect the illusion of racial superiority as the reason for their rejection of Black/white coitus. Never the less, racism is racism. I say this because this exclusion was inclusive of Blacks and Whites only.

Idiocy of your degree is rare among the wise, and common among idiots. Everyone in the country has been "miscegenated", even you Einstein. There's no such thing as a race who has escaped Black intervention, being that man first emerged in Africa. That's a priori. I doubt you know the definition of that Latin adjective. ALL cultures are bound for "genocide" since the younger generations tend to converge divergently with other cultures while the older, less educated and less secular generations die out. If you decide to postulate so-called, "scholarly facts", it would be advisable to possess at least a modicum of intelligence and much erudition. Go read a book.

Anyone gullible enough to believe a snake could walk upright (even though snakes have neither legs or feet) and could speak Eve's language (implying the snake was either telepathic, possessing a voice box, or both), and possessing the uncanny ability to cause eternal sin and death upon mankind by the comsumption of an apple, is dumber than a moron and ten times as stupid.

Show me a black Amish person in North America. Show me a Native American Amish person in North America. You need to get your facts straight. I live in the 4th largest Amish settlement in the world and have worked with them for the past 12 years and I would know by now if any of them were of Native descent or black descent, and believe me, there are none.
I just saw one one that stupid Amish mafia show. He's obviously mixed. His name is Allen. I never watched this show before today and I was a bit shocked myself but I saw what i saw. I lived in Harrisburg pa for 16 years and never saw any signs of black Amish but I did see some really dark skinned Amish that looked very Native American so, it's possible.

Based on the show "Breaking Amish" and another Amish documentary show whose name I can't remember, they have some racial views. I only consider it racism and not ignorance because they specifically don't condone dating black people and they have very little interaction with them.

Growing up as an Irish catholic schoolgirl in San Francisco meant enduring a great deal of sexual and racial harassment on the street and in public buses. The perpetrators were black American males and mestizo and Indian Mexican males. I can only say that there were plenty of us girls who refused to learn Spanish in order not to comprehend the hate crime insults hurled at us. It was a far cry from friendly "hellos".

This is true. My family and I visited Amish country in PA and we were called "n*****s." I was 8 years old and I will never forget how it felt. Like all races, groups, communities and etc not everyone is the same. I am sure they are not all racist but the ones i encountered were. You did the right thing by walking away. They seemed to run in packs so you definitely would've gotten jumped. Racist people are everywhere...lucky for latinos they'll be the majority by 2050..

Have you never seen a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white person who had a Native American great-grandparent? Most white people in America have Native American heritage. Most Amish in America have Native ancestry. And some of them do have black blood. I personally know some, and I've met a black Mennonite from the local church. You are the one who speaks from ignorance.
Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard, you have no knowledge of migration patterns in early america, or of anthropology in general. There are plenty of black people who believe in conspiratorial racial theories of origin, out of a sense of inferiority rather than scientific fact. Judging by your name, you believe like Paul Mooney, that everyone is basically black - Jesus, Buddha, the Amish, everyone.

Amish do not have native american ancestry you dullard, thats an insult to the native peoples. Just because you met an adopted mennonite it does not follow that every amish not only are decendants of native americans, but they are also black. The Amish largely share a German or Swiss-German ancestry. They generally use the term "Amish" only for members of their faith community and not as an ethnic designation. As an isolated faith community, they did not mix with outsiders, so I dont see why you have to add Pocahontas and black people into the mix, except that you are the type with a racial chip on your shoulder.

I saw a black adult Amish man working on the new Dollar Palace being built near where I live in West Virginia just last week. No lie. No joke. I am searching the internet because I was wondering if the Amish would allow him to marry a non-black Amish woman. I wasn't sure what the Amish believed about interracial marriages.
