Our father who art in heaven
It is no secret that we are in one of the scariest economic times in history. Only those who have lived long enough to remember the Great Depression have seen worse. So how do you address God when you need help in these difficult times?
I'm very interested in seeing what the different denominations and religions think about the subject of asking God for help.
Here are some brief thoughts about what I think we should and should not pray for:
I myself ask God for several things every day. To be specific I always ask him for "the patience, wisdom and work ethic to be successful"
I made it a habit not to ask God for handouts but instead I ask for the ability to succeed in whatever I want to do. With God's blessing I have found the ability to work from home in a good paying job and I am debt free. People ask me all the time how did I do it. The sad reality is most people don't want to hear the truth they just want to hear a shortcut or easy way out. I want the Heavenly Father to be proud of me and not to see me as a child who constantly asks to have things handed to him. I also thank god regularly for the many ways he is blessed me.
