Mailbag: Denying God, Part 2

Jun 20, 2010 Full story: About.com 226

'Is there really a God?' Though there are a variety of possible responses to this question, there are three traditional responses that predominate in Western society: God does not exist: atheism; we cannot know whether God exists: agnosticism; and a personal God does exist: theism.

Revelation 18:4
There is only one truth and only one people God is using today to accomplish his will on this earth.
Almighty God Jehovah, the God and father of Jesus, is only using his witnesses, as Jesus did on earth.
When the bible is taught exactly as written, the students become either fundamentalists or atheist. The delusional one who can accept the most ludicrous concepts is of course going to be fundie. The student who can not accept those concepts will soon be atheist. The christians who are taught only a small amount of the bible will forever push that rotten insanity off onto the rest of humanity as if it were some gift of great value.

The Jews understood perfectly what God wanted them to do...
The Jews failed to obey the Law, the word of God that directed their lives as his people. Their teachers taught their own righteousness.
The correct understanding of God's word is still in the Bible, that cannot be changed. People still refuse to obey God's word, they choose Churches or ministers to tickle their ears, they decide for themselves what to believe or not.
That is why Jesus said you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Free from all false teachings in all religion.
The truth cannot be changed, you just need to look for the teachers of the Truth.
So you think God made a mistake when He had Moses free the Jews from Egyptian slavery, give them his word and lead them to the Promised Land. They were just naturally evil people who even though they knew and understood God's word just flat out rejected it. Why would God have even considered wasting his time with them? You seem to be judging the Jews pretty harshly.

Almighty God Jehovah doesn't make mistakes, and he continually put up with the Jews rebellion to the Law, because of his promise to Abraham, that thru his line a seed would be born to rule as king over heaven and earth.

God promised Abraham that his children would be his property and his holy nation, because of Abrahams faith in Almighty God Jehovah. That is why Jehovah God delivered the Jews from Egypt, with Moses as their Messiah.

If you would read the 27, and 28th chapters of Deuteronomy, you will learn there are consequences for not being obedient to the Law.

Not all the Jews were rebels against the Law, but the majority did not believe Jesus was the Messiah sent from God to deliver them from the Law.

The Jews had Jesus put to death by Roman rule.
That is why the Jews do not have God's approval today.

Have you ever considered the possibility that there may be sincere people who have read the bible who have a different interpretation than yours?

Hey Martha. According to statistics, there are about 16 million JW's. According to your beliefs, how many people will go to heaven during the second coming?

Here are some examples of JW teaching......

Don't associate with outsiders (non-Jehovah's Witnesses). You are too busy for that! Watchtower, 2/1/74, p.93.

Association with non-Jehovah's Witness kids should be limited to trying to convert them. Your Youth-Getting the Best Out of It. 1976, p. 65.

Remember, you are to have "no association" with non-Jehovah's Witness friends or relatives. If they are honest and moral, that still does not make any difference. Watchtower, 2/15/60, pp. 112-113.

Hobby clubs lead to immoral character and might keep you away from the Kingdom Hall. School and Jehovah's Witnesses, 1983, pp.24.25.

Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day and National Holidays are all condemned. School and Jehovah's Witnesses, 1983, pp. 17-21.

In fact, the month Of May of Mother's Day is understood to be named after Maia, a demon worshiped by the pagans.... "'(Awake 5/8/1956, p. 25)

Wedding rings have possible pagan origins." (WT 1/15/1972 p.63)

"We all need to face up to the fact that Christmas and its music are not from Jehovah, the God of truth. Then what is their source?... Satan the Devil."(WT 12/15/1983, p. 7)

The real danger of playing chess is it's military nature, the equivalent of the maneuvers enacted by little boys with toy soldiers. Awake !, 3/22/73, pp.12-14.

No Jehovah's Witness should want to go to college. Rather, work in the Watchtower Organization! Watchtower,9/1/75, p.543; Pay Attention to Yourselves and to All the Flock, 1977, p. 105..

Do not pursue higher education. There is very little time left! Make pioneer service, the full-time ministry with the possibility of Bethel or missionary service, your goal.WT 3/15/1969, p. 171

What about professional careers? The position has not changed. If you are a young person thinking about a career-forget it. The end will be "in a few years". Do you remember expecting the end by the mid-1970's. Awake!, 5/22/69, p. 15.

Professional people, doctors and lawyers are often "inconsiderate of others" due to their undesirable higher education. Awake!, 918168, p.1 0. It is foolish to want to be a doctor or a lawyer. Watchtower, 8/1/75, p.451.

Children should get away from disfellowshipped parents as soon as they are old enough to leave.(Watchtower, 11/15/52, p. 703.)

If a child of someone is disfellowshipped from the Kingdom Hall, the parent is to refuse to listen to the child's reason.( Organization for Kingdom-Preaching and Disciple-Making1972, p. 173.)

Disfellowshipped children, legally of age will be kicked out of the home.(Watchtower, 11/15/52, p. 703.)

a disfellowshipped relative who does not live in the same home, contact with him is also kept to what is absolutely necessary ... even curtailed completely if at all possible.WT 7/15/1963, p. 443

They are to be hated "in the sense of avoiding them as we would poison or a poisonous snake." Watchtower, 6/15/80, p.8.

"in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person" WT 7/15/1961, p. 420

Jesus said, the person faithful in a little is faithful in much, and the person unrighteous in little is unrighteous in much. Luke 16:10

That is the standard that Jehovah's witnesses try to live by, that would include what we watch, what we do, listen to and who we associate with. That covers many situations of bad association. 1Cor. 15:33

Being a true Christian is being aware of all the conduct that could cause us to sin against the Law of Christ. Because it is in print it teaches us that we need to be reminded, we are still sinners.

You don’t sound like someone who considers herself a sinner. You sound more like somebody who would say,“Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou.”

Hi Martha
Have the jw’s jumped on the 2012 “end of the world” bandwagon yet?

Its just that give jw’s track record with the whole “end of the world” thing I would feel a lot happier about 2012 if they did

Watching Martha & Big Al go at it, I am reminded of a few quotes:

Benjamin Franklin -“Many a long dispute among divines may be thus abridged: It is so; It is not so. It is so; it is not so.”(Poor Richard's Almanac, 1743)

Robert G. Ingersoll - "The inspiration of the bible depends on the ignorance of the person who reads it."

Mark Twain - "It ain't those parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me--it's the parts that I do understand."

George Bernard Shaw - "No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means."

If you know that you are being warned to save your own life, and those of your family, as with a flood or volcano or some other coming disaster, and you ignor the warning, your blood is on your own head, that is only common sense.
