GOD DID NOT SAY DRINKING ALCOHOL IS A SIN, IN FACT, JESUS, WHO IS GOD IN THE FLESH, DRANK ALCOHOL AND MADE A BUNCH OF IT FOR WEDDING GUESTS AND SERVED IT TO HIS DISCIPLES.
HE SAID "DRUNKEDNESS" AND WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE DRUNK AND NOT IN CONTROL OF YOUR ACTIONS IS A SIN.
There, I feel better.
Agree. But maybe some people think that having a glass of wine is considered getting drunk. I agree with you God is againts getting drunk. But there is no harm in enjoying smashed grages....(as I sip another sip of my good *Moscato*):o)

What bothers me Aviela, is people are saying Jesus sinned and drank alcoholic, and then turned water into wine and gave it to a bunch of people who were already half if not all the way in the bag.
Would He have said not to get drunk then give fermented wine to people who were already drunk.
He would be contributing to them getting drunk causing them to sin.
LOgical it is impossible, it does not make sense.
I am trying to understand your point of view. But does it make sense for Jesus to turn water into wine if he thought it was a gross sin? Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to me that if you see a person enjoying a glass of wine in your eyes you consider them a drunkard

sister you need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and run as fast as you can from the catholic church. you need to study the history of the catholic church and what God has to say about that church. God winked at ignorance once, but i am afraid he will not again. prayers are with you and hope you do ecentually see the light.

Most if these folks had bad experiences with drunks, so they can't imagine someone stopping after a glass or two of wine or beer.

I love German white wines, preferably an Auslese or Spätlese from the Rhein river region.

sister, stand up, shake the dust off your feet, and not walk, but run from the the house that does not accept and abide by the words of the bible. do study the history of the catholic church and what God has to say about that church in the end days. Sadly so many good and innocent people are ignorant followers of the Catholic Church. And according to the bible God once winked at ingorance, but never again. first and formost, every born again christian that follow the laws of God do make up the true church. the name of the denomination, thus Catholic Church will not take you to Heaven. God does not dwell in denominations, but in the hearts of his people. and without his people, denominations are just empty buildings. the vadican is just a man and no more than you or i. so therefore, do not let any man decieve you. the bible says to call no man father except he that which is in Heaven. neither can man forgive sins, even for money. salvation cannot be bought or sold. there is only one way to Heaven and that is by God through Jesys Christ. Bible says any other way, you are as a robber and a thief. and a true christian is known by the fruit they bear. living just any old way will not get you to heaven. not speaking for every Catholic, but the Catholics i do personally knows, the do live a very ungodly lifestyle.

Jesus' First Miracle Changing the Water into What?

At a wedding in Cana Jesus is said to have changed water into wine.

It is my belief that Jesus made fresh grape juice and not the forbidden Alcoholic wine. Would he who was sinless make a condemned substance? He would never have made a drink that causes people to lose visual acuity, mental acuity, bodily motor control and that leads to ravings, fighting, vomiting, memory-loss, cirrhosis of the liver, black-outs and loss of brain mass? It is unthinkable to suggest that he made alcoholic wine. It says that the people at the wedding ran out of beverage. If they had drunk all the alcohol they had are we to believe that Jesus made 60 gallons more?. They would have been falling down and slurring their speech and passing out. Would the lover of our souls really do that to people? Open your eyes he came to set us free from alcohol, not make party animals out of us.

What About Moderation?

Alcoholic Yayin is called "the poison of dragons, the cruel venom of asps" that comes from the grapes that are grown on the terraces of Sodom and Gomorra (Deut.32:33 NEB ).

Even in moderation it is a poison. You wouldn't advocate adultery in moderation, or murder in moderation so why would you advocate taking Alcohol in moderation?

SHAKAR

"Whoredom Yayin and Tirsoh and strong drink (Shakar).take way the heart" (Hosea 4:11).

There is another Hebrew word that is often linked with alcoholic Yayin and that is Shakar.

William Patton's Book Bible Wines 1874 republished by Star Bible Fort Worth Texas 1981 says

"Shakar is a liquor obtained from dates and other fruits, or barley, millet etc.. both Yayin and Shakar have in them the saccharine principle and therefore may become alcoholic. But both may be kept and used unfermented".pg 57

So just like Yayin when you read about Shakar in the Bible you have to look at it in context to see if it is fermented or unfermented. For example in

Leviticus 10:9 "Do not drink Yayin nor Shakar, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations". This is obviously speaking about alcoholic Yayin and alcoholic Shakar. But in

Numbers 28:7 "And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the Shakar to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering. This is obviously non-alcoholic Generally in the Bible Shakar is referring to drunkenness.

Ps 69:12 "They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkard s (Shakar drinkers). "

There is however one place where fermented Shakar and fermented Yayin in their alcoholic states are permitted.

Pr 31:6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. At the point of death, if one is in intense pain and depression, these may be given as painkillers.

Didn't Jesus Drink Wine at the Last Supper?

At the Last Supper Jesus passed around the cup of and said "This cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is poured out for you." (Luke 22:20)

Do you really think that he was saying that the symbol of the Christian Church and the New Covenant was the forbidden drink Alcoholic Yayin?

Even a child can see mothers abused, children molested, homes destroyed, cars wrecked, divorces and fights, people murdered all because of alcohol. Do you really think Jesus had alcohol in that cup?

Why it Was Not Alcohol

Here Are Two Reasons why it could not have been alcohol.

Alcohol is created by adding leaven (yeast) to grapes and then processing it at the right temperature. Jesus was celebrating the feast of the Passover when all leaven/yeast is removed from Israel . Anyone eating bread with yeast or any product that had yeast in it was "cut off from Israel". Jesus was eating unleavened bread and drinking unleavened grape juice.

Christians are commanded to be temperate. That does not imply moderation. Temperate means literally to cut off all intoxicants.

Proverbs 31:4 says It is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink." Leviticus 10:9 says priests will die if they attempt to serve God while drinking wine or strong drink.

"Watch and be sober"

And What Does the Bible Say About Other Drugs?

In addition to Tirosh,Yayin, and Shakar the Bible lists many other intoxicants.

Our English translators called them wines or strong drinks but by looking at the variety of their names you can see that they are different substances. I am a student of Hebrew but do not profess to be an expert.

Mixing herbs with wine is an ancient practice so most of these were delivered in liquid form although in the cannibal cult of Moloch they burned "incense" which was inhaled (marijuana?) and Solomon was in love with a drug which he described as Black as the tents of Kedar. Kedar was one of Noah's sons who is believe to have migrated to India. I am suggesting that Solomon's downfall was Opium.

The Book of the Revelation says no sorcerers can enter God's kingdom. The word "Sorcerer" in Greek is pharmakia(drug users) I Corinthians 6:9-10) says

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Be not deceived...no Methuskos (intoxicated ones) shall inherit the Kingdom of God."

Brothers and Sisters you cannot take any intoxicants and expect to inherit immortality. I'd recommend you take little or no chemicals into your system or herbs with hallucengenic effects.

Would the perfect, sinless man make a drink, or partake of a drink, that causes the brain to shrink? Autopsies on alcoholics show that their brains have shrunk considerably compared to people of their own age and gender. If you answered yes, than this article is not for you. There are two main Hebrew words in the Bible for wine Tirosh and Yayin. Tirosh is always unfermented non-alcoholic grape juice and gladdens the heart and is good for an upset stomach. Yayin is also non-alcoholic when it is fresh and is sometimes referred to as a blessing, but when Yayin becomes fermented it becomes a poison and is severely condemned. God's people were not to drink alcohol.

"Noah drank Yayin and was drunken in his tent" (Genesis 9:20).
"come let us make our father drink Yayin and we will lie with him." (Genesis 19:30-38) spoken by the daughters of Lot.
"Do not drink Yayin nor strong drink when you go into the tabernacle lest you die." (Leviticus 10-9-10).
"They have given a boy for a harlot and sold a girl for Yayin that they might drink." (Joel 3:3)
"Awake ye drunkards, weep and howl ye drinkers of Yayin." (Joel 1:5)
"Yayin is a mocker , strong drink is a raging and whosoever is deceived by it is not wise." (Prov.20.1)
"They assemble themselves for corn and Yayin and they rebel against me." (Hosea 7:14)
"Whoredom and Yayin ..take away the heart." (Hosea 4:11)
"Woe to those that are at ease in Zion...that lie upon beds of ivory…that drink Yayin (Amos 6:6)
"Be not among Yayin drinkers" (Prov. 23:20)

The followers of The Way is the really Church of Christ. "Jesus being The Way" Its not a denomination,.

The Church of Christ is people Born Of the Spirit, Washed in the Precious Blood of the Lamb.
John 3:3-10
All Glory belongs to God the Father who gave up His only begotten son to die for the sins of the world that through Him many shall be saved.
John 3 ;17-18 "For God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world might be saved.

I met a young man in my travels who never had a drink before in his life, took the first drink at the age of 26 to please a friend
30 years later he sobered up.
Even if a person stops drinking today it will take a year for the effects of the alcohol on his brain to wear off.

You just said you drink in moderation yet told Anthony I beieve it was that it gave you a headache.
If you want to drink that is your business but don't say Jesus gave anyone or parttook Him self fermented wine.
Its not true.

You can use a (knife) to cut juicy steak or you can use it so slice someone's neck.(Wine) you can have a glass of wine or you can drink a bottle get drunk and hit someone with your car. The Bible does not condemm drinking I've posted scriptures to make the point. What the Bible condemms is getting DRUNK. Having a glass of wine with your dinner does not make you a drunk. If That's the case then Italians area alcoholics? I mean they enjoy yummy lasagna with wine. What is the crime in that?
