Foes of same-sex marriage are warning the Supreme Court that lifting state or federal restrictions would threaten their own economic and religious freedoms and lead to social and political upheaval.

The same old bigoted argument. "By upholding equal rights for all citizens you will interfere with my religious liberty to discriminate." Some christians are simply incapable of playing nicely with the other children in the sandbox.

To the religious leaders it's all about control, and gaining followers. The easiest people to con into their religion are those who are suicidal, so, by helping to make people more suicidal they make it easier for them to trick more people into following them. That's why they want to oppress any minority they can, they'd oppress the majority as well if they could get away with it.

Let me tell you. Since Massachusetts legalized marriage equality in May of 2004, the whole state has disintegrated: people don't marry anymore, no more children being born, divorce is rampant, churches are being sued by radical homosexuals, polygamists are clogging the courts suing for legal recognition, business are leaving the state in record numbers, more and more people are choosing to be gay, our long held tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving is finished. All because of the gays. Where will it end?

Just kidding. ;-)

I thought the stars were also supposed to rain down and set everything on fire, and the waters were supposed to turn to blood as well.

That's what the anti-gay religious types keep promising and it never seems to happen!

As a proponent of same-sex marriage, I'd like to warn the Supreme Court that NOT lifting state AND federal restrictions is a threat to economic and religious freedoms and may well lead to social and political upheaval.

Why should these nuts be able to legally restrict an MCC pastor from marrying two same sex members of their church? Why shouldn't the economy receive a boost from all the same couples who would be spending money on their weddings and honeymoons?

We've waited long enough. Even the intelligent political leaders of both parties ... the ones who understand the Constitution ... are no longer fighting this issue. It should already have happened ages ago.

It's rather surreal knowing the SCOTUS will be ruling in less than 5 months.

This could be the entire ballgame, but more likely just another step among many yet to come.

That has always stood out as the most irrational of the anti-marriage arguments.

Please provide the verifiable stats that prove your contention that marriage has increased child abuse in the straight or gay population, caused more people to have sex without protection, and created more serial killers of any sexual orientation.

Good luck with that one, Oh troll of many names.
