The consequences of that act were benign though.

If DF had been (un)dressed as Mohammed, maybe you'd have a point.

I understand: I didn't say what you wanted me to say so you fudged a little.

"Rational" responsible adults take care of themselves. SSI is something rational responsible adults have paid into for their working lives and 401Ks and IRAs pay for the the nicer things that SSI doesn't cover.
Children grow up and pay their own way.
There are occasions in many "rational" responsible adults lives where temporary circumstances they have no control over make it impossible to cover needs and that is what government is for.
Earth.

I like the idea of giving people a "hand up, not a hand out" to quote our President. A variation on the 'give a man a fish / teach a man to fish' thing ... sounds good on paper. That's not what we're doing. That's not what we're going to do ... whoever is President. People are not encouraged to become productive members of society in the current "plan". They are rewarded for being idle and having more babies when they need a raise. It's a self defeating, self consuming, non-sustainable program and the only one's served are those whose ultimate goal is the dissolution of the Great Society and seeing the USA knocked down to Third World status.

Yes, rational, responsible adults who are able to.
What about those who has fallen on hard times, amigo?
Society must have a safety net. Hell, I am young. I am willing to bet that a risky investment may be my undoing. Is it fair to then be on the streets because of a stroke of misfortune?
Howdy, DF!! Passably well, thank you and hope you are the same!

"Risky" is a relative term. It's not risky at all if you can be certain of a public tax funded "safety net". Assessing risks and accepting the responsibility and consequences of poor choices lends moderation, conservatism and due consideration to a broad spectrum of behaviors ... social, economic and personal. So yeah ... it's "fair" if that "stroke of misfortune" is the result of a poorly calculated risk.

Your leader rose eight times so far this year, starting with Palin, working your way through Bachmann, GingRICH, Perry, Cain, Perry and Frothy Rick. some twice, and a couple more almost rans but not quite.
I admired or supported none of them , in fact none of them would I.
I simply think Mitt projects strength and has the better plan.
Barack projects weakness and is a puppet of the fed res, in truth as close to the enemy as you can get. Ron Paul exposed him as the puppet he is by his first proposal to audit the fed.
H.R. 459 may well bury him.

As offensive goes, public head is higher on the list than public booger picking. I'd rather not be witness to either.

Don't take this the wrong way, Boobby Hill, but you are an idiot.

A bigot, a racist, but an idiot.

No one is being encouraged to be idle, no one.

The economy is in bad shape because the idiot predecessor to the current president took this country into two wars and at the same time- though there was a trillion dollar cost to the wars- cut the taxes for the millionaires and put the payments for the wars on the current president.

This is reflect- in the real world, on this planet, in this dimension- by the recession at the end of 2008.

You are not getting any smarter as you get older, Booby Hill.

Of course he hasn't.

He has announced a five trillion dollar tax cuts and has told us how he is going to pay for it.

What we know for sure: he will cut his tax rate- which is already 13 percent, half of what the middle class pays- to less than one percent.

He wants to take us back to the trickle down economics of the Bush administration which got us all into this mess in the first place.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

No worries. Translated from Barefoot Doublethink, that means I'm most likely an open-minded genius. It's interesting that you apparently hold blameless the monstrous acts of the fundamentalist religious whacko's whose suicidal acts of violence precipitated both wars. Let us "set aside" the fact that your hero currently occupying the White House has done NOTHING to stop the bloodshed, either from our National Treasury or the tattered bodies of our young men and women in the armed services. Perpetuating and amplifying Bush's mistakes ... wow ... what a guy. At least Bush, in his misguided, knee-jerk reactions was acting in what HE THOUGHT were the best interests of the country. Tell me ... how does it feel to be a Marionette for the Establishment? Do those strings on your wrists and jaw chafe? Dance little puppet! DANCE!!!!

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Sagittarius

You're wearing rose-tinted glasses today, especially when you look at some of the special people in your life. Right now you only want to see their good points and you'll deliberately turn a blind eye to any faults that might be on show. If you can escape from the real world for a day with you-know-who you'll have a marvelously romantic and emotional time together. But do your best to come back to earth tomorrow.
