Promoting committed,monogamous relationships is a very conservative value. The Republicans should have partnered with gays to trumpet the idea of stopping promiscuity and finding a life mate.

I agree. But they won't.
The Republican party has quite a number of self-described "factions", including, but not limited to: "Libertarians", "Economic Conservatives" and "Social Conservatives". The "Social Conservatives" really disagree on a lot of issues with the other 2 factions, but they ARE a large faction, and the Republicans need them to win federal offices. I think only time will lead to a decrease in their influence.
I'm an offial member of The Libertarian Party, and I registered Libertarian. I DO agree on 90% of the issues with Republican "Social Conservatives" with the obvious notable exception of Gay Rights, but because of that, I simply can't be a Republican.
(And as we all know the so-called "Democratic Party" is just a name to thinly disguise the party of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Fidel Castro, and The Obamaniac. PURE EVIL).
